Who: OPEN
What: Pax Letale Halloween Bash 2010!
Where: The Empty Grave
When: 6:30-9 p.m.
Warnings: Likely any and all. Enter at your own risk.
Notes: This is the party post for all Pax residents and guests in attendance, right up to the moment of transformation. Use your subject line to denote your character's location (i.e. 'By the door,' 'at the bar,' 'on the dance floor,' 'in a coat closet.')

The air in Pax Letale crackled with possibility all day Sunday. All week, excited chatter had filled the hallway and the forums; costumes had been carried in and out; speculation on what the party would entail were whispered. By Sunday, the energy surrounding the event held so much promise that it hardly seemed like just a Halloween party anymore; it was something more, and that sense was nearly kinetic.

The main ballroom in the haunted mansion that was The Empty Grave was expansive, but guests had already begun to arrive. When they entered, they found lush opulence withered and faded; grandeur, but with an eerie pall over it. It was perfect for Halloween - dark, ghostly, with a twisted Victorian edge to it. The bar was fully stocked, trays of h'ors d'oeuvres passed around and more substantial fare offered on ornate platters along one wall. A DJ was already spinning a mix of music that somehow managed to fit the theme and appeal to the eclectic demographic he was serving, and attractive (if ghastly) characters added flavor to the already colorful room.

The night had begun.

"Here here," she added, signaling to the bartender for her poison of choice. Once she had her drink in her hand, she appeared a little more pleased with her situation. She tilted her hat back a bit with one finger before leaning on the bar, scanning the tableau before them.

"Have you ever hear of a landlord liking their tenants enough to not only throw a party, but an expensive Halloween party?"

"Um, hm, my last landlord threw us a party, but it was in his studio apartment, not a ballroom. And there was no open bar. And everyone was passed out by the time we showed up. It wasn't really a party so much as him trying to sell us some heroin, actually."

He grimaced. Charming, Kaminski, really witty. No wonder you're such a hit with the ladies.

"So in answer to your question: no. It's pretty weird to me, but everyone else seems to be having fun I guess."

As if to prove Kaminski's wise assessment of the situation, one of the apparently gleeful party-goers bounced up to the bar beside he and Pia, hand lifted to signal for the bartender's attention. Petite and curvy, she filled out her coy little Indian Princess costume quite nicely and the strength of the seams were exhibited as she leaned across the bar to give her order.

Rocking back on her heels, she noticed the other two attendees and smiled brightly. "Hi! Are you from Pax? I'm Kami, six-oh-seven." She extended a hand, somewhat oblivious to the bartender's return and his cargo of an extremely pink something-or-other in a daquiri glass.

As Pia looked over the newcomer, any semblance of enjoyment drained from her expression. What was it about her and attracting all these labrador puppies in human form? But before Kaminski could answer, she pointed away from them and replied, "I think the Moonlite BunnyRanch is that way."

"Actually it's that way," said Kaminski, dazedly pointing in the general direction of Nevada.

Best. Party. Ever.

Still trying to make sense of a universe where two attractive women approached him on the same evening, Kaminski attempted to answer. "I'm... Pax. I'm Kaminski. One-oh-four. ...hi?"

"Hello." If Kami had recognized Pia's sarcasm and sudden cool-ice, she gave no indication and instead turned to accept her drink before focusing on the two new faces again. She lifted her glass in salute for a moment and then took a quick sip. Setting it down on the bar once more, she again faced them tipped her head slightly to one side. "I think I remember you," she directed at Kaminski, voice thoughtful as she searched her memory banks. "You work with the kids, right?"

Feeling certain that she was right, Kami almost immediately flicked her focus to Pia and a tiny frown of concentration formed between her dark eyebrows. "You don't work with him, too, do you?"

Pia turned to face Kami again after shooting Kaminski a dirty look. "My vocations are hardly kid-friendly," she replied from behind her drink, carefully leaning back against the bar, studying Kami as if through a microscope. "Hell, one of them isn't even adult-friendly," the corners of her mouth quirked a little at this small witticism, as Pia was pleased with her own cleverness. "Oh, but I'm being rude. Pia, seventh floor."

"It's a pleasure to meet you." Kami grinned without any kind of hesitation now, not even reacting to the narrow look. "I'm just the floor below you then," she added with a slight nod. Then she settled her hip against the bar and sipped from her drink again. "Are you having fun here, Pia? Kaminski?"
