Easy Like Sunday Morning
Who: Mirza and Kami
What: Even exotic dancers and shop wenches have to have a day off sometimes.
Where: Starting in the lobby, on to Kami's apartment.
When: 10/24/10
Warnings: None at the moment.

With one ear-bud in and her iPod treating her to some Lady Gaga remixes, Kami hummed along cheerfully as she managed to bump open Pax's door with a well-regulated hip bump. The jolt forced her to scramble for a second to re-establish control over the multiple bags slung over her wrists and cradled in her arms but, in the end, she was triumphant. She tried not to think how she would manage to get her keys out and her apartment door open. Either she would sprout another arm, use her mouth, or do the mature thing and set something down. It didn't matter which. It was a gorgeous Sunday, just before noon, sun still shining despite a few threatening clouds, and Vons' had a sale on chocolate chips. There was also a Halloween party right around the corner and her birthday. What more could a girl ask for?

Speaking of parties, she thought, she should double-check the costume hanging in her closet. She knew it was the right size, technically, but you never could tell in the bag with off-the-rack things. As much as she wanted short and sassy, there was such a thing as too short and sassy. No need to invite the world to view the good china, right?

As she passed the bank of mailboxes, though, Kami slowed as she tried to remember if she had picked up her mail the previous day or not. She wrinkled her nose in thought, pretty mouth screwing up in concentration. Absently, she shifted her weight to one foot to better balance her bags out as she paused. She tapped the other on the floor softly, patent-leather pump making faint clicks.

Mirza pulled his hand away from her's, settling an arm around her waist and urging her a bit closer. Lap would be nice. "Oh I very much doubt you're an amateur and I would very much like to find for myself. Not gonna lie." His general honesty was going to get him in trouble some day. More often it got him slapped.

While Kami sadly did not oblige his desire for a bit of lap-sitting, at least she did not fight his demanding cuddle, letting him hook his arm around her slim waist without argument. "Why do I get the feeling you're not big on lying at all?" she laughed. "Or on long, drawn-out courtships? Is it because you're cute or is it the exotic dancer thing?"

Oh yes, he was very demanding. So big and burly and strong. Riiight. Mirza laughed as well, grinning big like a Cheshire Cat. "It's just the way I've always been. I'm generally very honest and I don't court. Not really. I've tried but it never works for me... But I can take no for an answer," that was the truth. If someone said no to him, he dealt with it. Sometimes he pouted, sometimes not. It depended on the situation.

"Then you really are a bit of a knight and I won't take any arguments about that this time." Kami twisted a bit to study his face, warm smile lingering at her full mouth. Whatever she saw there caused her to reach up and push a bit of her dark hair better behind her ear before returning her head to his shoulder. "And what do you say to maybes?" she asked curiously.

"Alright, alright," he said placatingly, really not wanting to argue about anything right now. Mirza watched Kami study him again, quiet, smiling and wanting to know exactly what it was she was looking for. Women were such strange creatures... "I stick around until I get a firmer answer. I can be very bothersome like that."

"So does that mean you want to stay for dinner?" she asked. Beneath the mildness of her tone, though, Mirza could pick up the implicit offer.

The natural maleness of him which was often hampered kicked in right about there with an internal 'yay food!' The other part of that was 'yay invitation to stay!' All in all it was a win-win situation. "I would like that very much. It's not often I get invited to stay for a meal." True enough. Wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am was more like it.

"Then it's set." Kami squirmed up a bit to reward him with a brief, little kiss to the cheek. Then she slipped away from him and climbed off the couch. Reaching up to smooth her hair, then down to adjust her shirt, she bent to retrieve her half-finished water. A quick smile in Mirza's direction and she moved off to the kitchen. "Is there anything you don't eat?" she called back over her shoulder.

He smiled a bit lopsidedly at the kiss on his cheek. It was so chaste and weird. He was not used to chaste. Quietly, Mirza watched her taking a moment to enjoy the view as she picked up her water. He turned physically to watch her move into the kitchen. Leaning on the back of the couch, he answered her, "I've had kirsha mahshiya and the main ingredient there is sheep so no, not really. Eat everything." Not that he had liked kirsha mahshiya...

She laughed. "Sorry. I totally forgot to pick up my weekly shipment of sheep today," she answered flippantly. "Your options are chicken, fish, or hamburger. Leave it up to me and you'll be getting a basic little chicken and sauce dish. Maybe some greens and rice? Something not too heavy, I'm thinking. I have a pretty decent white wine so I could make sure those work together."

Having reached the kitchen, Kami spun on her heel, uncapped her water again, and quickly tipped her head back to finish it in one long swallow. Then she gently lobbed the plastic bottle in a bin marked with the traditional triangle-chasing-arrows. She reached into her pocket and withdrew a elastic band, immediately beginning to pull her thick, dark hair up into a messy ponytail. "So what do you say?"

Mirza smirked a little, "I hate sheep so hey, we're alright. I only tried it as an honoring my heritage kind of thing." Never again was he going to do that. Blood sausage was right out. He had way too many heritages to think about... Honestly, he just watched her go, taking in the view quite happily and grinning to himself. He could watch Kami walk all day.

"Sounds fine to me as long as there's wine," he agreed easily. Seriously, Mirza was easy in more ways than one. Food was one of them. Alcohol was another. Sex was another and the largest factor. Quietly he slipped off the couch and snuck towards the kitchen trying to be as quiet as possible... If she didn't have a knife in her hands, he was going to see how close he could get to her to surprise her.

"Then there will be wine," Kami declared. Then, decision made, she began puttering in earnest. For the moment, Mirza had ceased to exist as she retrieved a heavy pan, a cutting board, knives, and every other bit of hardware she would need. That done, she practically skipped to the refrigerator for the actual food. It was surprising how efficient and capable she seemed. Before Mirza had even reached the breakfast bar, she had already measured out the rice and put it on to boil as she contemplated the pepper in her hand. "You don't mind peppers, do you?" she asked. "I think it's going to need some crunch to it."

Wonderful, he thought but did not say aloud as he was trying to be sneaky. Wine was a very good thing. He moved slowly and carefully, creeping along like he was pure ninja. Mirza waited just around the corner, watching her prepare. When it looked like she wouldn't be using knives for anything soon, he continued to sneak along into the kitchen - his steps were very silent, practiced to be that way. So it wasn't until he put his arms around her middle and nuzzled her neck that he said anything, "No, I don't mind. whatever you feel like."
