everybody's comin'; leave your body at the door
Who: EVERYONE.
What: The Pax Halloween Party, part one.
Where: Pax Letale apartment complex, rec room.
When: 7 p.m., Oct. 31.
Notes: Hi guys! Sorry this took so long to get up; things have been pretty crazy here. But here is the Halloween event! This is the first part, and should be treated like a regular event; please mark where and when your character can be found throughout the room. Please remember that your character must be wearing their Halloween mask provided to them at the beginning of the month in order to gain admission to the rec room party. This is crucial for the second part of the event. If there are two people in a thread, please ask permission before entering; if you have any questions, please contact the mods! Now on with the show!

Despite the general eeriness of the building at large, those who make their way downstairs to the Halloween party will find it decorated to entertain. The lobby's emptiness will have been filled by a set of bloody sticker footprints from the elevator leading toward the rec room, through the door of which lights and music blare into the hallway. Stephan is waiting outside the entry way, dressed to the nines like a bald Morticia Addams, his red nails clicking on a clipboard as he takes note of who's arrived and who hasn't. Those who aren't dressed appropriately—read: with their Pax-provided masks—will be denied entry until they go and retrieve said item. Upon entry, Stephan will make the remark that attendees are to enjoy themselves, and that a special guest of honor will arrive a few hours later.

Those who make it past the drag queen bouncer will find a rather ghoulishly delightful party inside. Orange and black streamers hang in wound loops from the walls, pinned carefully to the molding near the ceiling. Bats, cartoon cutouts of witches flying over a waning moon, black cats, and pumpkins all cover the walls from top to bottom; carved pumpkins are set on every available table space, lit and flickering in the low light. The doors to the pool area are open, a disco ball shining orange, black and white specks over everything as classic Halloween hits are played from a nearby boombox. The pool itself glows a ghostly green.

Back inside the rec room, a long table opposite the pool table is laden with hot dog finger treats, feet made of meatloaf, speared deviled eggs painted like eyeballs, and every other appropriately-themed Halloween food item an attendee could think of. In the middle of it all, amid black and orange plates and clear, orange-y cups, is a bowl filled generously with store-bought candy. On either side are punch bowls filled with green and red liquid; the former will taste like apple cider, the latter a regular tropical punch. Neither are alcoholic, but attendees are welcome to sneak their own into the party—Stephan's not watching that closely.

Overall, the party seems normal—too normal for some, though no one will find any mislaid bear traps, poisoned candy or razor-blade laden apples anywhere in the vicinity. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts....

Re: Gabe/Rafe - 7:05 p.m., snack table

"I'd like that," Rafael said, smiling bright enough to match his golden attire. After another small squeeze of Gabriel's fingers, Rafe drew away, drifting toward the bowls that held their drinks. He poured a small cup from each; he frowned after a quick taste test revealed neither contained any alcohol.

"I didn't think to bring liquor," he mused, returning to Gabriel's side. "I guess that will have to wait for our afterparty."

He pulled Gabe closer toward the food, more to keep his hands on him than out of any real desire to eat. He chewed his lip as he stared down at the offerings there, finding everything a touch too macabre for his liking. His smile began to fade. "Didn't anyone tell them you eat with your eyes first?" he complained. "I understand they're trying to be creepy, but..."

"I guess they didn't know they have a chef in the building, hm? They should've asked you to help." He loosed his hand from Rafe's in favor of wrapping it around his waist (a hand darting beneath the toga for nothing more than the opportunity to be able to), pulling Rafe against his front. He kissed the other man on the cheek, leaning forward as he held his drink out with his other hand.

"We don't have to stay for very long. I'm sure you want to say hello to your friends, right? Alice, probably... I wonder if Obed's here..." He turned around, casting about for the older man. It seemed people were slowly trickling in, maybe as hesitant about the party as he felt. With everything that had been happening all month, it seemed almost like there was a dangerous build to something, the climax of the story. He shook his head, feeling silly.

"We could order out, maybe?" He turned his attention back to Rafe. "What goes well with Halloween—burgers, maybe?"

"Rare steak," Rafe joked. He leaned back into Gabe's embrace. His toga rode up a bit more, almost indecent as he settled himself against Gabriel's chest. But it fell back down again soon enough, and he hid an impish smile behind the rim of his cup.

"I'd like to see Alice. Nish is here, but she looks busy..." He raised his cup to her and James. He was pleased to see them out and about, to see Nish seemingly happy and at ease. It put a brighter smile on his face as he drained his first cup of cider. He lingered there, wanting more—wanting liquor, if he was honest—but unwilling to pull away. "We can wait a little while, see who shows up. I'm sure more will come. And I'd hate to have spent all this time on this costume for nothing. These are really difficult to fold, did you know that? So many pleats..."

Gabe pooled all of his willpower to keep his hand from skirting the edge of Rafe's underwear.

"I think your friends would've approved much more of this costume than my idea," he said, laughing a little. He leaned forward, his mouth coming up right beside Rafe's ear; tiny hairs shivered as his warm breath played over the other man's skin. "How mad are you going to be when it takes me five seconds to peel you out of it later?" His hand pressed down on Rafe's belly, but before he got too lewd, Gabe forced himself to step back.

"You make my head spin, anjo," he murmured as he stepped around to Rafe's other side, grinning, his voice filled with laughter. "I don't know if it's safe for us to be in public together."

Rafael made a small sound of disagreement at Gabe's assessment of their costumes. He had been quite pleased with their unexpected ensemble, and his friends had seemed the same. But all thought of that rollercoaster of an evening fled with the touch of Gabe's hand, with that small, dark laugh; a subtle shiver threaded down Rafael's spine, and he found himself pressing close once more.

"I don't think it is," he agreed, "but that's what makes it fun, right?" He walked past Gabriel, back toward the punch bowl, trailing one index finger down the buttons of Gabe's dress shirt as he did. He did not mind the warmth that pooled low in his nearly-bare belly as he looked to his partner, taking in each fine line of his well tailored suit. He drew his lower lip between his teeth, nipping suggestively at its fullness. "Builds up all that anticipation, you know?"

Gabe turned with him, his smile saying he did not mind this interlude in the slightest even as he shook his head at his partner.

"If that was a Rocky Horror reference...very nice," he offered, before letting that same smile blossom into a full, toothy grin. "I think you're wearing far too much clothing to be Rocky, though," he added, moving back toward his date. His hand found its way toward the small of Rafe's back, his eyes dancing across the awful food once more. He looked back at Rafael.

"What say you we stop pawing at each other for a minute and do a circuit? Maybe someone else is here that you wanna talk to more than me."

"Impossible." He leaned into Gabe's hand, his head turning to press a gentle kiss to his partner's cheek. "But fine. We'll be social for a little bit. Then I'm dragging you back upstairs, if I have to do it literally."

Again he glanced around the room, seeing it had filled up a bit more since last they had checked. He reached down and took Gabriel's hand, squeezing it tightly, then pulling him away from the table and on toward the crowd.
