Notes: Welcome to another game event thread! The same rules apply as before; please mark where your character can be found in the event location (i.e., by the bar, seated in the lounge, on the dance floor). If possible, please use a time stamp so we can keep track of everyone. If you have a specific person coming into your thread, please mark the thread with their name (i.e., by the bar, 7:30 pm - daniel), otherwise please indicate that you're 'open'. If a thread is already occupied, please talk with the players before jumping in. Any questions, please contact the mods!

The only acquiescence to the theme that had been supplied by the location selected for the latest Pax event was Flogging Molly blaring from the jukebox crammed so close to the bathroom that men and women alike had to slide their asses over its front, glass-encased menu to pee in privacy. The rest of the bar had been left untouched; the money covering every grimey inch a reminder of all the hard work put into the small bar that kept it alive.

Extra liquor was provided by the complex, entirely unnecessary and yet done regardless. Food was likewise on hand, this time the Pax management sending over their particular cook to create a plethora of holiday-themed foods: bite-sized servings of Irish stew on kabobs, shepherd's pie in small cups complete with edible potato spoons, Irish soda bread, chocolate stout cupcakes, and scones just a small sampling of the menu on hand. The bar's owner had provided her own take on the holiday's culinary offerings with gummy shamrocks soaked in vodka.

Staff was left entirely up to the location's owner, though carefully vetted by Pax management. It seemed all was well in hand by the time the first tenants decided to arrive.

Alice blinked and then smiled as her cheeks grew just as red as her hair. "Oh that's nice, I could always do an order for you and drop it off at your apartment!" Her smile quirked and she took a sip of her drink again, her eyes still large and not moving from the man before her but it seemed that looking at him only made her cheeks all the redder.

"Uh... so," Alice murmured, lowering her drink and turning her gaze to the ground. "Brittany, BB? My friend? She, she showed me." She squeezed her eyes shut for a moment and bounced slightly from a hiccup before looking at Rafe and leaning forward a little bit in a poor attempt to keep what she had to say between them.

"She handed me a dildo the other night," she blurted out in a fast, drunken whisper. "And it was yours and I didn't know it was yours until after and I'm sorry I grabbed it."

Rafael, who was decidedly less drunk than his neighbor, blinked doeishly. After a beat, he laughed aloud. "I promise it didn't feel a thing," he said. He looked around Alice to wave at BB, uncertain if she could even see the gesture. "I can imagine what else she shared with you." If her deep blush was anything to go by, BB had shared quite a bit, it seemed. "We had a very interesting interview when we first moved in."

"She shared a little," Alice replied, glancing toward BB before looking back at Rafael. "I just was surprised because I didn't know you... did... that and then she had me holding the dildo and I feel like we don't know each other well enough for me to be holding a replica of your... you know... like I should be taking off my dress to even the score or something. Not that it's bad or anything," Alice nearly shouted, throwing up a hand. "I mean, it was a nice dildo and all... oh gosh."

The drink went to her lips again and she took a deep drink. The sober voice in her head was hissing at her to shut up, but the alcohol was slowly smothering that voice.

Rafael's continued laughter, soft though it was, likely did not help the situation in any way. "Well thank you," he said. "But I promise, there's no score to even. I enjoyed your work, now you've enjoyed mine. Sort of. I think." He covered his broad grin with the rim of his glass, sipping lightly at the whiskey lest she do something else to set him laughing again.

"I'm sorry I didn't warn you earlier," he teased. "In my experience it's usually best to let people recognize me on their own. Addressing it any other way can get very awkward very quickly."

Alice's eyes were nearly bulging out of her head. The combination of her embarrassment and the booze was clear on her face and the blush seemed to be making it's way down her neck and onto her chest.

"Um," she managed to say before blinking rapidly and trying to stand straighter. "I'm glad you enjoy... my work...?" She swallowed and cleared her throat. "I understand, it would've been a little weird... I guess... if you just told me in the middle of the bakery. Not... not that there's anything weird with your job. I mean, it's a job, right? And that's... that's good. And you must do it really well if you have a dildo made...of your... you know...

"You just didn't look like... I mean... not that anyone looks like...like there's a way to look in this type of job field..."

She let her head tip back and looked at the ceiling as she let out a loud groan before snapping her head back up and nearly losing balance. "Please don't hate me? You're nice and I don't want you to hate me."

"Hate you? Of course I don't hate you!" Rafael shook his head, tipping back what remained of the whiskey in his glass. He felt its warmth trace down his throat, brightening his already improving mood. He signaled to the bartender for another round, both for himself and his embarrassed companion.

"It is just a job," he said. "But I understand why most people don't see it that way. It's okay, I promise." He grinned. He reached across the bar, picking up his drink, leaving her own for her to procure when she was ready. "We really don't have to talk about it. We can talk about your bakery. Right? How's that going?"

Alice looked at Rafael with the type of look she reserved for puppies or the dirty chai cupcake from Baked and Wired from back home. She accepted the new drink after finishing off the other one and turned, feeling a little wobbly on her feet, but vastly more at ease.

"The bakery is okay," she admitted with a small hiccup, opting to go with the change of topic, much to the relief of the small sober voice that remained deep down inside her. "I left it alone today and tomorrow. Well, not alone. The other baker I hired is running it but I've never left it alone before and I'm sort of worried it'll catch fire or get robbed or something." She hiccuped again and frowned at her drink.

"You would think that being Irish would make me better at this holiday."

"I don't think that's how it works," Rafael laughed. "And they do make the cocktails strong around here."

ButI'm glad you have some help there now. I'm sure your help won't burn the place down. And it's good for you to be away from it for a while, you know? Have some fun. Spend time with your friend." He gestured back to BB. "She's an interesting one, that's for sure."

"She is," Alice replied with a laugh. "She's been my bad influence since we were kids. Always the one making chaos. I was always more quiet. But I wouldn't be here without her. Or meeting you!"

She turned her bright grin to Rafael. "But you! You should say more! You know about my job and my best friend and I don't know anything--" the color began to creep back onto her cheeks "--well, beside the job stuff."

She pranced closer to him, the quiet, slow moving, peaceful girl that she usually was too far gone for the moment and replaced by a more carefree person who moved and was certainly more physical than usual, as she placed a gentle hand on the edge of Rafael's shoulder. She looked at him seriously though and took a moment to swallow and regain some semblance of sobriety before saying. "Tell me about you."

Rafael blinked. It had been quite some time since anyone had asked such a question. It took him aback. He had no idea what answers to provide, what might interest someone else other than his unique career. "Um... well..." He sipped at his fresh glass of whiskey, giving himself time to think.

"I have a Betta fish named Mr. Fishy." The hand curled around his glass pointed over toward Isobel. "Isobel gave him to me. Cute little guy. We watch nature documentaries together. I'm dating Nish Bariss, another tenant here. I really enjoy cooking, and I cook for her a good bit, but I like cooking for friends, too, so if a dish shows up at your door one day it's probably from me." He grinned brightly. "How did I do?"

Alice grinned. "Perfectly."

She sipped at her drink again and looked toward where Rafael indicated to Isobel. "For one, your fish name is adorable. Second, I like Betta fish but I'm not good with fish--I want a cat though. Third, I would be very happy to try some non-baked goods. Fourth... or am I at fifth..." She giggled, the alcohol making her tongue sluggish but her humor unending. "I've never met Nish but I've met Isobel! She drove me home from the bakery which is so nice."

She bounced on her feet and turned to Rafael fully. "We should go say hi to Isobel, she's all alone. Come, friend." She reached for his hand, forgetting all the embarrassment from earlier in the evening and happy to have made a friend.
