1002 to everyone
Apologies to my brand new tenth floor neighbours who had to deal with the noise of two moves in one day, but at least it's over with now? I'm Simone, just moved here from the Bay Area to set up a private practice with a colleague. (Psychiatry, before anyone asks. Very awkward to drum up business for it, too, but that's why they pay me the big bucks.) Everything's still a bit skew-whiff in the apartment but on the plus side, the carpets have never been cleaner, so feel free to drop by and say hello. I have...espresso and Oreos, it's a very sophisticated joint here.

SoCal > NorCal sorry not sorry

Damn we got a lot of big spenders finally moving in, I guess management was waiting for people with some dough

HEY NOW wait no, I'm originally from Canada, I don't have a dog in this fight. SoCal, NorCal, all that matters is it's March and there's no snow. Well worth an exorbitant rent.

Doublestuffed, I'm not an animal.

Oooo you're a...a chuck? A woodchuck? What's the thing, I can't remember. I could NOT deal with that much snow, but I bet you guys know how to drive better in it than D.C....ians...I don't know the word for that either.

YUUUUUUSSSSSSSSS you have chosen wisely. I'm on the second floor so my trip up will be long and arduous, but expect my arrival shortly.

she's been here less than a day and you're already talking about doublestuffing, I can't even with you

Hello and welcome! I'm Daniel, in 209. I'm already helping your neighbor move in, so I can swing by if you need beer, pizza, or leftover parts from trying to put together Lucas's bookshelves and whatnot.

Honestly, everyone knows that it's not polite to talk about doublestuffing with the neighbours until they've been moved in for six months. Nobody has any manners these days.

I might poke my head in next door if there's beer and pizza, I feel like I've earned it after a day of moving.

See, YOU understand. BB just has no home training.

I'll make sure Lucas saves you a bottle and a slice or two. See you there!

Wow! Two in one day; welcome to the building; I'm Isobel in D3, with my fiancé Obed Brandt. Espresso and Oreos sound like a wonderful combination, but if you need anything else we'd be happy to help!

Thank you! And that's quite a "what are the odds" moment—I've actually met your fiancé before, since I used to work at Berkeley. Definitely tell him that Dr. Fujita said hello (and congratulations are evidently in order if he's someone's fiancé now, how lovely).

Oh! Well if that's the case we're definitely going to have you up for dinner. I'm sure Obed will be delighted to see someone from his past, now that we're all living under the same roof!

This apartment building has a knack for making a small world seem even smaller. It's good to see you again (so to speak). Isobel is right, you should absolutely join us for dinner. Do you need any more help getting settled in?

So long as I don't run into any animatronic children in ethnic costume, I'm fine with a small world. But I'm settling in all right, and I'd be very happy to join you and Isobel for dinner, it's been far too long since we've talked.

I can promise you won't have any of that, although Isobel does occasionally try to dress our Pomeranian up in various outfits. Just let us know when you're available, and we'll make some solid plans.

Throwing me under the bus before she even has a chance to meet me? That's low, Obed. No dessert for you!

Abel in 507. If you don't mind the inquisitiveness, what's your specialty? I'm not looking for a shrink, I am one, so it's always fun to come across another in my proximity. Unless you'd prefer to leave work at work, that is; I don't mean to pry.

Not at all! Always happy to talk a little shop with a colleague. I'm primarily a dialectical behavior therapist (also some CBT to fill out the bench, and trained in EMDR as well). I do a lot of work on bereavement issues, trauma, and mood disorders, but clinical practice does tend to run the gamut. And you?

EMDR, huh? Read plenty of studies, never had much training in it myself. Fascinating stuff. I'm forensic psychology, with LA County. The usual - CST, mental state opinion, etc - at the very least I can say it's never dull work. Maybe we could get a coffee sometime, pick each other's brains.

I was sceptical of EMDR in the beginning but everyone I know who works on PTSD issues absolutely swears by it, so eventually I caved. And I can't argue with results, it's very effective. Forensic psychology is the furthest thing from dull, we should absolutely get coffee sometime and chat.

Two in one day, I know. Word's getting out that this place is where the quality live, I suppose. Nice to meet you!
