[Public from 507]
So, if you haven't noticed yet, there is currently a 30-ft  horse trailer parked catty-cornered across the drive.  It may be blocking some cars from getting out.

It's mine.  I call her the Monster.

What you don't realize is that rather bedraggled-looking trailer contains all of my worldly belongings, including a lot of boxes.  One of those boxes is full to bursting with packing peanuts, which are in turn carefully swaddling a bottle of Borgogno Barolo Riserva 1955, a bottle of Jean Grosperrin 1958, and a selection of midwestern beers and wines.  Whoever unpacks that box gets to keep it, and I'll provide for any other brave volunteers from the rest of my supply.

That's right, I'm bribing people to help me unpack in the middle of the night with fine booze.  And possibly pizza.  Is there a place with reasonably unburnt crusts that delivers around here?

If you want to take me up on the offer, I'll be the fellow lugging boxes up to 507. And furniture too, if nobody responds to my siren call of pizza, booze, and not being able to drive their car in the morning.

Sorry about that.  It was the only place I could park her.  Also, hello.

-Richard Wainwright

Not gonna lie, I almost had you towed. I guess I should apologize for calling them, but if it helps, they said they can't tow a horse trailer until at least nine in the morning.

In my defense, I thought I was going to have to drive and pick up my iPod from somewhere. And then I got in my car, realized I couldn't drive anywhere, and that also, my iPod was in it. And so then I was just kind of pissed I couldn't move my car.

Also, welcome to the neighborhood. I'm Luc, up in D1. I would understand if you simply referred to me as douchebag. Again, I'm sorry.

I'm surprised they have anything that can tow her at all. I'll be sure to get all the boxes out before nine, then. Thanks for the warning. On that note, do you know any good deserted lots where she can hang out until I find some unsuspecting soul to foist her on?

As for calling the impound, I tell you what. Help me with the bedframe and we'll call it even.

Haha, driving a very hard bargain when it was all just on general principle - I seriously did think it was just parked illegally without purpose. Frankly, if the thing were mine, I wouldn't fess up to it. Of course, that ship seems to have sailed.

I guess I have to agree, though. God forbid the neighbor turf wars begin when you've only just arrived.

Would you believe that I got it for less than it would take to rent a moving van one-fourth the size? Because I would. She got me here, though, so I refuse to complain too loudly.

There are neighbor turf wars? That's news to me. I appreciate the help, in that case. Saves me having to buy a bandanna, or something equally annoying.

And he's a bargain shopper. Lookit that. Haha. Gift horses, man. You know what they say.

God, in the last complex I lived in there was this old couple that had it out for us from the second we moved in.. it was ridiculous. Like they had nothing better to do than try and get us kicked out of our condo - which we owned. Like, what?

I'll be down as soon as I can, though. And here I was gonna sport a bandanna just for the full effect..

Currently, they don't say anything very nice. Maybe I'll feel differently after the Monster and I have both had some alone time. Four days, and her foibles are starting to be too much for me.

Technically, I guess they could have done it if they had some actual reasons to complain. Did you kidnap people? Set things on fire, perhaps?

And by all means, bring along the bandanna if you want to. I didn't mean to understate your experience on the mean streets of the condominium scene.

If I get to work late because of a horse trailer... What made you think parking that thing across the driveway was a good idea?

I wondered what the commotion outside was. My name's Dominic, I live in apartment 207. Um...isn't it kind of late for this sort of thing?

Hi Dominic. It's late, but it was either this or find a place with trailer parking to sleep. Those are hard enough to find in the Midwest (trust me) and I'm assuming it's worse here. The idea is to get everything into the building in time for sane people to get up and about tomorrow. Shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I'd like for it to not end up being 'too much' of a problem.

With help, how long would you estimate it'd take? I have work in the morning but I'm something of a night owl; I could help move a few things. Even if I doubt that a trailer filled with all your worldly possessions could possibly be completely emptied by a quarter to 9 A.M. or shortly after. And anything 'shortly after' that time would throw my schedule off, anyway. No need for the liquor in my case, I'm not much of a drinker.

Not long at all. There are maybe ten or eleven pieces of actual furniture, and most of the rest of it is just boxes. As soon as they're all upstairs, I'll find a place to stash the Monster. So, maybe an hour? Maybe two? It depends on how many people help.

A teetotaler, eh? I'm not sure what else to offer. Promise you'll at least take me up on the pizza?

All right, count me in for moving assistance; I'll be down shortly. Because the faster I get downstairs to help, the faster this trailer can be moved.

Oh, no. I tend to practice everything in moderation. But I wouldn't mind a little pizza...

I'll definitely help for booze, but for the trouble of having to take the BUS I want good booze.

Borgogno Barolo Riserva 1955, a bottle of Jean Grosperrin 1958???? NO WAY? Lead me to the box.

The box you'll have to find yourself. I have less than no idea where it ended up. Even if you don't find it I can promise good alcohol. Just not quite AS good.

If you ever find even one can of a Bud product in my refrigerator, please get me to a hospital immediately. Or ask who I'm holding it for, I guess. I do not drink that stuff.

Correct answer. I'm a bartender and I just can't. I admit it, I judge people based on what they drink.

Well, people tell me that I'm an elitist when it comes to alcohol. I have yet to be convinced that it's a bad thing.

Might've ran over something on my way out. If there's damage to my tires, you're getting a bill.

If there's damage to my record collection, you are. Then we can pay each other's bills and go back to square one.

Well, it could, but it would probably mean another night of sleeping in abandoned lots for me. It turns out that very few hotels on the East Coast have trailer parking. So I'll be moving in tonight, but I'll try to keep the sound level down.

Moving, groups of people and booze do not lead to relatively quiet nights generally.
