You'll understand when you're a parent, Sam, but things aren't that simple. The fact that everyone's fine and ok doesn't keep you from thinking how unbelievably lucky you are, and how luck might not be on your side next time. I mean, I am thankful that THING is gone, I'm thankful you boys are safe, but if you had all been caught? Tortured? KILLED? I would be devastated...and we wouldn't have even known for God knows how long.

That's where your father's coming from. He's scared. Try to remember that when you two are butting heads, he just is worried about you boys.

You don't have to be sorry, Sammy, just...keep it in mind, ok?

I understand that, Mom. I do. But you guys need to understand that this isn't something that we did on purpose. We didn't have a choice. It was either go in or let him escape. And you know how worried you guys are about all of this? Being scared? That's how I feel about the idea of him being out there. I was worried that he'd come back and try to hurt someone. He could have gotten YOU again.

We did what we had to do.
