There was a delicious satisfaction in that crunch as fist meets face. Faith slammed punch after punch against the various demons rushing at her. Those damn vampires couldn't be killed. Couldn't be killed and in the meantime they were playing with the severed heads of teenage girls. These girls had never asked to be Slayers. Not like Kennedy, or Rona, or Vi. Those who had known what they were doing when they walked into hell with her and B.
Yet they were dying for it. Hunted by demons. Seen as terrorists by Governments.
Faith suppressed a snarl as she flung a Fyral up over her head and into a wall. The vampires, her break up with Kyle, her recent confession to Sam. It was all starting to take its toll and Faith was starting to wonder just why the hell Peter ever thought she was capable of command. Technically outranking Buffy wasn't something that sat naturally with her. So far there hadn't been a clash, no example of Buffy disobeying orders or anything, but one day it would come. And Faith dreaded it.
A couple of sharp kicks, sent the Polgara several feet away before she twisted the knife into its jugular, the blood running out down the blade and over her hand.
This was what she was good at. What she was born to do. Hunt, fight, kill. All this politics was a difficult learning process for her.
She wrenched the weapon free, shifting to one side before the dead demon could pin her down. Almost lazily she turned, shifting her grip on the hilt as she slowly raised her head to turn her gaze on the remaining demons.
