Kara, as 'Linda' was at work like usual, moving through things that had to be taken care of, anything that needed her attention, or that Lana had asked her to do. She was sitting in a random chair in one of the sitting rooms, her pen flying at an inhumanly fast speed across some paper, while her other hand zoomed across the keyboard of her laptop. She was hardly paying attention to what she was writing, more focused on who had arrived in the city. Her heart nearly fell out of her chest when she read the words 'kaboom.' When she concentrated, she could hear it, and she could feel that. The vibrations in the ground, the sounds of explosion, people screaming who were near enough, and lucky enough not to be killed.
The papers she'd been writing on scattered across the floor as she left, by the time she was out the window, she was in red and blue. It didn't take her long to get from one section of the city to the other, the air around rippling with the colors of her clothes. As she got closer, she could see the damage, the city block exploding, the heat of the fire, though not painful physically, on her skin. She couldn't stop the explosions, but she had to do something.
Kara dove, there were two little girls standing on the street alone, not running, staring at the explosions fast approaching them. Using her body as a shield, she was able to protect them from the glass, the flames, debris, and the fire that exploded forward, holding them close. When the impact was over, she had both of them in her arms, and was dropping them off several blocks away to the nearest police station.
Not long after, she found herself back at the sight, hovering over the fire. Would anyone else arrive? Sirens were already in the distance, fire trucks would be here soon. Inhaling, she angled her body and blew, ice moving in on the flames to help with the extinguishing until the fire trucks arrived.
He hadn't even been here a whole day, had he? Maybe not even a few hours. Total devastation. How many bodies did she have to look forward to dragging out? Anger surged through her as she worked, hating that this wasn't someone she really knew how to deal with, not actually. She wasn't Batman, she still couldn't figure out how the man did what he did, as much as she respected him.
