WHO: Padmé Amidala and Darth Vader
WHAT: Their first encounter, following the snake attack at the Hyperion.
WHEN: Sometime in what would be the afternoon
WHERE: A nondiscript hotel not far from the hospital.
RATING: PGish
STATUS: COMPLETE
Padmé had survived the snake bite she'd received. It had taken some time, and quite a bit of experimental medicines, but she had managed to live through it. Her baby, unfortunately, hadn't been so lucky.
It hurt, losing a child. It was a pain unlike anything she'd ever felt before. She felt alone in her sorrow, heartbroken without external proof as to why, and unable to fill the void that the loss of the child had left behind. To make matters worse, the doctors weren't certain she'd be able to conceive again. The toxins had played havoc on her, internally, and they simply didn't know if her womb could once again maintain life.
Not that it mattered, really. With Anakin lost to the Dark Side, Padmé wasn't going to be having any children anytime soon. She didn't even have a husband - not in her heart at least - and because of him couldn't be near her son out of fear that he would be placed in further danger due to her presence.
So after being released by the doctors, she hadn't bothered returning to the Hyperion. She had simply used some of the money from her severence package with Wolfram & Hart and gotten a small hotel room not far from the hospital. It wasn't as nice as the penthouse she'd shared with Anakin, nor was it as large as the Hyperion, but it was smoothly run by a couple who genuinely seemed to care for the well-being of their guests.
She had settled in as best she could, mostly keeping to herself and an eye on the message board. Obi-Wan's arrival had cheered her, along with his promise to pay her a visit soon, but otherwise there was very little that could ease the sorrow that had seeped into her soul. She missed her husband and the bond they shared. She missed her friends, and the purpose she'd had when in her own galaxy.
Here, she was more alone than she'd ever been... and it was slowly but surely killing her.
