For a moment, Padmé simply stared at him. She hadn't expected a logical response, and she certainly hadn't expected him to allow her to call him Anakin without repercussion. For one brief, hopeful instant she wondered if he might be coming around.
Then she reminded herself that wasn't going to happen. He was lost to her, forever, and no amount of hoping was going to bring him back. The thought was almost enough to bring her to tears but she remained strong. She had already lost enough because of Vader. She wasn't going to lose her pride, as well.
So rather than cry, she instead gave him a bitter sort of smile and shook her head lightly. "Don't you understand?" she questioned, voice thick with emotion and eyes shining with pain and anger. "You are the reason I'm in danger. You are the reason I went to the Hyperion, and you are the reason I cannot return. I'm not threatened by any other in this entire place... except for you."
