The bell on the curled toe of his shoe jingled as the little elf kicked at a clump of snow. The tinkling sound was quickly followed by a high pitched yelp, as a toe connected with rock hard ice instead of fluffy snow. Hopping up and down on one leg, cradling the injured foot in his hand, the elf bitterly though that was just perfect. It completed the utterly miserable day he'd had.
