Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!status: incomplete, ^date: november 17 2003, character: elijah chambers, character: roger davies

Characters: Eli Chambers & Roger Davies
Setting: Eli's study, after 6pm
Rating: PG-13ish
Summary: Time for a follow up!

Excited wasn't the right word, but it was the best one. Today was the day he and Roger were scheduled for the follow up to his little project on Friday. Of course given that Roger hadn't contacted him the other night when the Nightmare-memories were activated indicated that the experiment had likely not gone as he would have liked. Still, that didn't mean it was a failure. It just meant that he would hopefully have something to learn for next time. Not to mention that if his father's memory had integrated fully, as it should have, the Chambers might have another person with a strong tie to Jason should they not figure this out.

Once home from work, Eli had insisted he wasn't hungry glaring at the too helpful house elf as he insisted on making something to eat. Instead he went to his study with instructions not to be disturbed unless there was an urgent matter or his guest had arrived.

Eli had some old articles to dig through hoping that he could uncover something new. Only the deeper he looked, the more he was starting to believe that some what was happening was outside of his abilities. Not to mention an ethically gray area that would only confirm most people's feelings toward him. Really it was just a way to pass time until Roger arrived.

"That's good, it means your subconscious mind is processing it." And Eli had a few tests to run later to see just exactly how his brain would have processed it to confirm his prior hypothesis. However, there was also the other part he didn't know about and that was something that could definitely mess with other things.

"And what do you mean that sleep has been weird? Have you experienced any other strange dreams or other factors that might have disrupted your normal sleeping schedule?"

"Well, glad that the experiment was a success," Roger said and tried not to sound sarcastic. He had agreed to go along with the experiment so he just had to deal with the side affects that came along with it. He settled back into his seat, and took the opportunity to just try to relax.

"Yeah you could say that," Roger said at the next question. For some reason he wasn't exactly surprised by it either, but he was going to wait and see if Eli would come out with it on his own. "I had this really disturbing... nightmare. And I mean a normal one, not like those really bad ones."

He still wanted to do a few more tests to see how it integrated, but for now that could wait. It would appear that there was a far more pressing issue at hand. Eli sat down in his chair inviting Roger to sit across from him if he so chose. "What kind of nightmares?" He pitched his voice so there was just the right amount of concern present. Concern rather the curiosity he actually felt.

"I mean it could just be your brain processing the new memory - but if you don't mind it would be helpful for me to know the details."

Roger sat up straight in the seat, moving it closer to Eli's desk. He didn't really want Samara walking in and hearing him talk, and Roger was disturbed to talk about it anyway. "I... I don't even know if I can say it," Roger said in a somber tone as he looked at Eli. He knew he had to tell his mate though. Roger had his suspicions that it was connected to the experiment. But he wasn't going to accuse Eli or ruin the experiment.

"I don't think it's that. It's too different, and it's very... vivid. The emotions feel real," Roger said brushing a hand back through his hair. "I have a child in this nightmare. I mean, I know I don't have a child, but feel like it's mine," he explained looking at Eli and hesitated from saying the next part out loud. Even as an Auror going through training and being exposed to horrible things, even this was enough to make him throw up when he'd woken up. "And I eat him. Like kill him and eat his flesh. What the fuck kind of dream is that?"
