Who: Tracey Davis and OPEN
What: Checking In
Where: Diagon Alley/Outside Tracey's flat
When: 12pm Nov. 13
Rating: PG

It was hard to believe it hadn't even been a week yet. Last Saturday, her brother had been killed. She kept waking up every morning hoping it wasn't true. That there had been some kind of mistake, and it was a terrible nightmare like everyone else was having. But then she'd wake up in the spare room at Theodore's house, and she'd be reminded that it was all real.

Tracey had only stayed one day at the hospital, and Theodore had been good enough to take her in. She didn't feel safe going back to her own flat and she had no desire to go home with her mother. The only time she went to see her mother was for John's funeral earlier in the week. That had been the last time she'd left the house. Tracey had cut herself off from everyone except Theodore, and she hadn't wanted to deal with it.

That was until she started getting owls from work reminding her that she only had the weekend left of her break before she had to come back. Maybe the her bosses at the Prophet would have been more sympathetic, if there was less turmoil going on in the Wizarding World. When she'd heard about the living-inferi, it was enough for Tracey to wake herself up and deal with the harsh reality. As much as Tracey appreciated what Theodore was doing for her, she needed to go back to London. She needed to check out her flat, and make sure it was still there after the creature attack yesterday.

Tracey had apparated into London, before going into Diagon Alley. Tracey barely even looked like herself. Her hair was a little unruly today, and Tracey hadn't even bothered with makeup. She wasn't in her usually stylish attire, something something comfortable to cover up. She looked around at some the damage still there and made her way through the alley, her hand firmly on her wand in her pocket. The last time she'd been here.... was last weekend. She'd been leaving the Leaky Cauldron. Tracey was watching everything as she walked down the street in the direction of her flat. She wasn't going to let anyone sneak up on her today.

He just looked at her. Zacharias knew he didn't need to answer that question, she knew. It was bad enough that he had said anything at all. Bad and yet kind of nice that he wasn't the only person who knew now - not that he wanted to talk about it. Even if it was still too hot, the more tempting option was just to throw back the tea in his cup.

"Drink your drink, I believe we mentioned getting you out to be human in public or something." It wasn't so much deflection as it was returning to a prior conversation point. "Not to mention I could stand to eat something before I need to get back to the office."

Right so they were apparently going to avoid that topic all together. Which was just more of a confirmation to Tracey that Zacharias was the father. Another lovely mess on top of everything. Tracey almost wanted to ask if he'd told his mother yet, especially considering who the prospective mother was. But that would be a snarky comment reserved for later.

At the cue that Zacharias wanted to go, Tracey finished drinking down, which made she made a face about, since most of the irish cream settled at the bottom and she tasted it all in that last gulp. "Yes right, I'm just pacing myself," she said. Tracey had the liquid courage to face the public now. "Just give me a minute," she said leaving the kitchen and heading towards her bedroom. She tossed off the shirt she was wearing for something cleaner and neater, before heading into the bathroom where Tracey performed a quick charm for the bare minimum of make up.

When Tracey was fit to be seen in her own opinion, she headed back to Zacharias. "Alright let's go, I'm starving now."
