Crazypants knows the deal
Characters: Zarkin Frood [NPC] and Samara Chambers, later Theodore Nott
Setting: Diagon Alley, main thoroughfare. Saturday November 8th, around 10:30 AM
Summary: Frood's off his rocker again but there may be something legit to what he's spewing.
Rating: Possibly high for disturbing imagery

Everyone knew that Zarkin Frood was pretty much completely nutters. He spoke with a thick heavy accent, something difficult enough for most Brits to understand, and that was before he started raving. He was in fine form this morning, muttering to himself as he paced the length and breadth of Diagon Alley's main thoroughfare. twice he stopped and accosted some poor unsuspected witch or wizard, warning them about 'that red-haired' bitch, before stalking off again.

Most people ignored him, but more than a few cast wary glances his way. Some people went out of their way to get out of his, but some few others were worried they actually heard a bit of sense in what he was yelling.

Theodore had been watching the strange interaction for a period and had even preceded the collection of eyes that lingered upon them. He had always an interest in strange occurences and this was as odd as they did come. He had of course heard what the hysterical man, who now had the name of Zarkin Frood.

He had gone to the cauldron shop to replace his old desktop iron cauldron with something that can handle higher capacity potion brewing. But as he left the store he encountered the raving madman and someone he recognized as an alumni of his house. He paid attention between their exchange but soon noticed that she was starting to become unsteady herself...very anxious. Well of course, the madman was raving about something that would be frightening to any mother. That part made him at least somewhat compelled to act. There was something about mothers protecting their young that struck a chord with him, after all. And secondly, he wondered, what exactly this Frood character was referring to. Was it his dreams? Was it his reality?

He had approached, and walked past Samara with his usual detached confidence and addressed Frood. "Mr. Frood," he said in a startlingly calm tone that wildly contrasted with Samara's near hysterics and Frood's keening.

Frood hadn't even noticed Theodore. This woman was yelling at him and he very nearly clamped his hands over is ears. The only reason he didn't was that he could hear the fear in her voice. Good. She should be afraid. They should all be afraid. Everyone.

Yet when that calm almost quiet voice cut in, Frood broke off suddenly, whipping around to find its source. "Who are you," he asked, and his tone was exactly the same as it had been when he first addressed Samara. He didn't, however, respond to her frantic question.

"Theodore Nott," he replied, his confidence unwaivering in the face of what seemed to be very unsettling behaviour. Theodore noticed bit of sanity return to this interaction. Maybe.

"Mrs. Chambers here had a few questions about this woman that you speak of. Can't you offer any clear answer as to who she is? She is obviously besides herself with worry."

Samara whipped around to look at the man who had just interrupted them, annoyance and desperation on her face. She recognised him from Hogwarts - he was younger than her and a Slytherin, she believed he was Nott. She was about to address him in exasperation but then he seemed to be offering her help, probing Frood for the information that she had already been asking. She wasn't sure why he was doing so but she wasn't going to question it just then.

"Yes, Mr. Frood, please, who is the woman with the red hair that you are referring to?"

"Not who?" Frood seemed to misunderstand what Theo meant but he didn't wait for clarification. He swung back round to the woman and child. They were listening, he realised. They were actually listening. No one listened. His eyes were wide, startled, and he seemed to be flirting with insanity again. "She made me do it," he whispered. "I didn't want to. I loved him. Loved my wife. Watched them both die. It was all her fault. Pandora."

The name came out quiet, as though he were afraid to actually say it. A hysterical sound escaped him and he said it again. "Pandora." He leaned over and made that retching sound again, but nothing came up. He hung the, bent over, panting for a long moment. Then he straightened, staring first at Jason, then Samara, and finally looked at Theo.

"Pandora Zurlo will kill you all." Those six words were spoken with perfect clarity, and then his eyes glazed once more. He let out a strange whopping sound and turned, barrelling through the crowd at top speed.

In moments, he'd hooked a corner, turned down and alley and was gone.

"Well, I gather that we've gotten our answer," Theodore said still in a bit of a deadpan manner, watching as Frood disappeared into the crowd. He was somewhat shaken by this, but had buried that feeling to look at the mothe and child once more.

"Are you alright?" he asked, turning and looking back at her once more, and then looking at the little boy. Actual concern revealed itself for that brief moment--it was like a tune in his repertoire that wasn't played too often since it was far too personal and heartfelt.
