Who: Eric Sizemore (Diana) and Josh Blake (Terry)
What: Research
When: Saturday afternoon
Where: Comix'd, Boston, Mass.
Warnings: High levels of geekatude.
It was a comic book shop like most. The place next door was a tattoo shop; it was that or a sex shop. Fred thought the tattoo shop would be less intimidating for the geeks, nerds, dorks, and other that visited comic book stores on a regular basis.
There was a decent size neon red sign that read "Comix'd," announcing that the wayward collector had found his destination. The store front had once been an open window face, but Eric had demanded they cover the front with the posters they might find or were sent as promos. It was a decent effect, if Eric was asked. Fred thought it lent an air of clutter, but he supposed it matched the decorated front of the tattoo shop. Jedis, Avengers (Dark, New, and Mighty), Titans, JLA, Conan, Star Trek, Alpha Flight, so many warriors for good and evil leaped out at the approaching collector, the true believer, who entered the hallowed hall of comic greatness.
The set up was the usual set up. A few tables for the Magic tournies that took place ever so often; Eric wished they didn't need the business. The wall with the wire shelves, and resting in the wire shelves were the bagged and boarded comics waiting to be taken home to be read and cherished. High around the room, carefully mounted, were the higher priced comics, the collector items that were for sale, but Eric never wanted to see them leave. He didn't believe Fred would listen to him in buying some of them, yet there they were.
Down the middle were the bins of the carefully filed b/b'd comics, by title, unless there was a title change - latest title was usually the winner. A counter was opposite the wire racks, and in the glass display counter were other collectible items, busts, figures (action and other), memorabilia. This was a comic geek's haven, and behind the counter, enjoying a back issue of Marvel Noir was the proprietor's brother, Eric. The main man himself.
