*after religiously reading all the major papers for weeks, has finally failed to find so much as a page-six mention of his embarrassment at the Virtuoso Awards*
*can only assume that people are starting to buy his line about holing up to write a brilliant new play, even though most of those days were spent bingeing on junk food and watching reality shows*
*takes a break from the morning's work (he's easing back into it) to go out and pick up a box of doughnuts* *across town* *while wearing his hat and dark glasses* |

*sets his beer down, swipes a steak fry and twiddles it thoughtfully, wondering if his lunchmate has any idea what he's getting into with his question (exactly how big is this big family of yours?)* (*probably not!*)
*finally shrugs, grinning brightly* Okay, then. You asked for it. *pops the fry in and chews, counting off names on his fingers* There's cousins Barry and Molly. Great-great-grandma Bella and Great-great-granther Gary. Great-grandma Gilda and Great-granther Rory. Great-great-aunt Shelly and Great-great-aunt Edith, who've both been married to Great-great-uncle Mer at one point or another (and boy, was that a mess). Cousins Nick, Andrew, Deedee, Jeb, Jeb (yes, there are two in that same set), and Liza-Jane. Great-uncle Gus and Great-aunt Peach, and my cousins Les and Maddie. Great-aunt Prim and my cousin Tuck. Great-aunt Dina and her fiancée, soon-to-be-great-uncle-Mark. Great-aunt Fossie and her kids (the third Jeb, Missy, Dolly, and Graden). *swallows and continues* Great-aunt Sarah (who never did get married, and I could tell you some stories about that, too). Great-aunt Mary and Great-uncle Vernon. My cousins Red and Hil across the street, and Dodie, Berk, and Dina. Oh, and cousin Miles and his crazy girlfriend Penny but we're all kind of hoping he doesn't marry her because half her family's in the nuthouse and the other half probably should be... |
