Summary: They celebrate Derek's birthday

Brian was determined to make this birthday a success whether Derek wanted or not. Oh sure, technically it was for Oliver and Derek, but their friends understood why this was for Derek, at least when it came to Brian and John.

He got in touch with a local restaurant and had to make a run to pick up trays of food. He would have loved to arrange everything through the restaurant, but he couldn't imagine Derek enjoying the fancy dishes served there. Instead he went for a little simpler menu. He also got cakes for both and desserts of different time. Nell couldn't exactly bake here, but Brian still got the ice cream cake (no alcohol) and alcohol to go with it. Derek could bitch and moan, but Brian would make sure that they covered all of their bases down to fruit, vegetables and milk, because the man was superstrange, but making him happy made John happy and that was all that Brian cared about.

With everything set up, Brian could lie by the pool and get a tan while ogling all the good looking men. It was indeed a good party.

While it wasn't the best taste in the world, Oliver swallowed anyway. He'd had worse and it was easy clean up. He gave Tommy a smug grin before moving, taking a drink of his lemonade, leaving Tommy dangling limply in the wind.

"Not exactly the same, is it?" Oliver asked shamelessly, with a wink. He settled back comfortably on the bed beside Tommy, taking another drink of lemonade. His gaze slid to the window and around the room as he put the glass back on the bedside table, then he relaxed and folded his hands behind his head.

"Hm, you said we weren't going to have sex if we came inside. Liar." Oliver's amusement was blatant, and a realization hit him. "All I needed was that push, to not be the person in charge, and I folded like a poker novice."

Tommy laughed. "No, not the same thing." When Oliver lay back, he rolled toward Oliver again. He wasn't sure why his fingers kept going to the scars, playing with them. "It's different because it's you, Oliver. I ... yeah, still not really interested in other guys." He might have kissed TJ, but that had been curiosity more than any sexual attraction, curiosity and alcohol.

He snorted. "We haven't. Ask Bud Hammond. I'm pretty sure that was part of his defense, and he's a lawyer and the former President so I'm totally using his reasoning." Tommy looked at Oliver and rolled his eyes. "You understand that the only reason i was waiting for you was that a) you're so squeamish about this relationship and b) you actually are the one who's had sex with other guys. It is not because I expect to play the White Knight, in or out of bed. Maybe now you can finally relax. And we can have sex. You know, the real one according to Executive orders."
