RP: Sam, G
Who: Sam, G
Where: LA, NYC
When: October 29, 2010
Summary: Sam and G go from following a terrorist to the Omega reality in the blink of an eye

They were running down an empty, gun out and ready. No one seemed to be around, but Sam could hear the foot steps. Sam and G quicked the pace, moving in unison without having to say a word; a simple look once in a while was more than enough to say everything they meant to say. Faster, closer, Sam could now see the suspect. He blinked as a glimmer appeared; the sun must have hit against some metal surface. Sam paid no attention, too used to go after his target no matter the condition.

"Stop! Federal agents," he warned, just before the suspect shot at them without even looking. One day one of these assholes would stop, but today wasn't the day. He and G shot back, still running. The glimmer was back, but he dismissed it and when they moved past it, everything seemed to change and stay the same at the same time.

The suspect was gone, Sam couldn't hear footsteps, and things were slightly different: a garbage can that wasn't there before, cars that appeared out of no where. Training had him surveying the area, looking for treats, while moving closer to G, ready to protect his partner. "What the- What did just happen, G?"

"Your money is always on Hetty. It'd be stupid not to." Through the years, they'd been shot at, driven off the road, slammed against. Sam had a feeling that things were about to get worse.

"So, are you going to stare at it or are you going to open it? I'd wait for Kensi, but my phone isn't working." The statement was delivered with a straight face, but they both knew he was joking.

He stood around, scanning the area while G opened and hot wired the car. Only when G could pay attention to his surrounding, Sam got into the car. "Let's get the hell out of here and see if we can figure out what's going on."

G merely smirked. No one with any sense would bet against Hetty on these things. The woman probably knew more ways to kill a man than the entire team combined. At least that was G's assumption.

"Just for that, I'm driving." Raising an eyebrow as he opened the car door and lid into the driver's seat, G took care of getting the car started. While Sam got in, he took over scanning the area, as he continually took in the situation. He waited only long enough for Sam's door to close and his partner to be settled before pulling away from the curb and heading west on Wilshire toward the beach.

Pushing the surreality of a city changed to the back of his mind, he focused on not missing the details...or possible street changes making sure they weren't being followed.

And it was very surreal. He'd grown up in this town, been with the NCIS team here for several years. G knew Los Angeles and this wasn't Los Angeles. Familiar landmarks were altered or missing. Gang territories seemed to have changed, local tagging proclaiming the wrong claims.

That it only took 15 minutes on Wilshire to drive from Downtown to the beach was the most surreal of all -- even at the speeds G normally drove.

"Any thoughts on Plan B if the beach house isn't there," he asked Sam as he took the turn-off onto PCH that headed to their safehouse.

"It'll be there." The declaration would have been more convincing if more and more things were missing, things like entire buildings which couldn't have disappeared over night.

He took out the phone and checked again, but it was still useless. "Check yours." Not that he really expected anything differently at this point. "If it's not there, we do what we've always done. We ditch the car since it's hotter than Fallujah in the summer, we go undercover, we gather intel, and we figure out what's going on. Until then we survive." He might have been spoilt with all the tech support NCIS gave them, but he was a SEAL, he could and would survive without it and would make sure his partner did the same.

As G pulled up, Sam took a deep breath. "We're about to find out."
