RP: Tyra & Troy
Who: Tyra & Troy
Where: Team center
When: 23 November 2011 (lunch)
Summary: Tyra picks another victim person to talk to at lunch.

Tyra had gone through another day and it was much the same. Getting up early for training first of all. It didn't feel normal by any stretch of the imagination but at least she was picking up some useful skills. That's how she was going to think of it. It was better than thinking that if she was back at home, she'd be in her truck on her way back to see her family. She wasn't sure how Tim felt about missing out on Thanksgiving but Tyra felt just awful. She knew that nothing had been done to cover up Tim's disappearance and she didn't imagine anything would be done for hers. She'd have just disappeared without a trace, leaving her family to think she'd either ran away from everything or that she was dead.

She kept trying to push it out of her mind but it was still there despite it all. There was only so much she could force out and all of this had been more than a little overwhelming.

Tyra had been adding to her mental list of questions as she went through the days. It was great living with Tim; she could ask away and because they weren't anywhere public, nobody was going to think she was an idiot for not knowing how things worked around here. She liked Savannah, who she'd met yesterday, but Tim was the person she'd go to first. He was her friend, she trusted him, and he knew her. Tyra figured he had to know how much she disliked being out of the loop.

Tyra had just finished training in the morning and, as before, made her way to where everybody ate lunch. She picked somebody new to talk to, one of the guys who she'd been told hadn't arrived long before her. She was pretty sure his name was Troy but she decided to err on the side of caution and check.

"Hey there- It's Troy, right?" she asked, smiling. "Mind if I eat lunch with you?"

"Yeah same here. Basketball teams come with last names, and we're a team, although it's weird that some of the people on the team are almost as old as my parents," he said.

Troy smiled. He liked a woman that knew what she wanted, even if he wasn't sure he agreed. "I don't know about months, but it's been a week, and I can wait a little bit longer." He wasn't going to get into that situation in the first place, no matter what she thought. "I'd hate growing up in a town that small. It's my business and no one else."

He chuckled. "You don't have to be polite with me. I don't care."

"That does seem strange now I think about it," Tyra had pushed it to her side, along with the fact that a couple of the younger people - Savannah and John - seemed to be married or dating much older people. She wondered if it was because they'd arrived sooner and there hadn't been other younger people but she didn't want to pry."

"I didn't know anything else," she said with a smile. "It wasn't like I didn't get used to it. Besides, it had its benefits however small they might seem." At least she'd known when Tim was cheating on her or when Landry had started flirting with Jean.

"You sure?" She grinned. "You might regret saying that."

"I guess this dimensional thing doesn't care about age. There's a little of everything, and Hetty is old, like sixty old, so you have a little of everything," he said.

"I guess if you grow up like that you get used to it, but going from a city, even if not as big as New York to this is strange," he admitted. "I guess getting to know everyone is nice."

Troy snorted. "I'm sure. I was in a locker room often enough. I doubt you can say anything that can make me blush."

"I guess not. Places, ages, it's pretty crazy. Can you imagine if we start getting people from different countries? That would be so insane," she said. "I hope we don't get any kids or babies come through. That would be pretty horrible."

"Yeah, I imagine it can get kind of claustrophobic for city folks though," she admitted with a frown. "Austin seemed so large when I first got there. It was awful, I didn't know anybody there. I was tempted to turn my truck around and go home."

"Oh now that just makes me wanna try," Tyra joked.

"I think I'll take people from different countries over children." It couldn't imagine how that would work even if there were plenty of people willing to take care of them if the pregnancies were any indication.

"Albuquerque is the biggest city in New Mexico, almost a million people and San Francisco has seven and a half million. Granted, technically Berkeley isn't San Francisco, but I spent plenty of time there. It's better than this."

He grinned. "Do your worse."

"Same here. I know it sounds awful but the only kids I ever want to look after are my sister's or my own," she admitted. "I like them and all, just not that much."

"Is that where you lived in New Mexico?" she asked. "I've never really been anywhere, I know I can't imagine that many people that easily though. I know Austin's big but I think it's less than a million total."

"Now? When you're expecting it?" She pretended to think about it before chuckling. "I don't think so. There's no element of surprise now. Wouldn't be half as fun."

"I was thinking how horrible it would be for them," he said, wondering just how self-involved this woman really was. "If it's hard for us, I can't imagine what it'd be like for children with no parents and no clear understanding of what's going on."

He nodded. "Yes, we were there all my life, we moved to different cities, but we were in Albuquerque for a long time, and yeah, Austin is smaller than Albuquerque, not by much. San Francisco has the highest density, I think. It's not that big, but millions of people."

Troy chuckled. "Right, then you'll just have to surprise me." Now that would be more likely, especially if it happened near Sam or Callen, because they could be a team, but those two were intimidating and old.

"Well... That goes without saying," Tyra said, looking at him a bit strangely. "I mean nobody would wish that on a kid, especially not one old enough to know something was wrong but not able to understand the whole picture. I couldn't imagine it. I really hope there's some kind of age limit."

"Not sure I'd like that. I wouldn't want to feel like I was living on top of people, you know?" she asked, pushing her hair behind her ear and looking at him. "Did you like such a busy place?" And how come you moved from Albuquerque?"

"I will," she promised. "Don't you worry about that."
