RP: Tyra & Troy
Who: Tyra & Troy
Where: Team center
When: 23 November 2011 (lunch)
Summary: Tyra picks another victim person to talk to at lunch.

Tyra had gone through another day and it was much the same. Getting up early for training first of all. It didn't feel normal by any stretch of the imagination but at least she was picking up some useful skills. That's how she was going to think of it. It was better than thinking that if she was back at home, she'd be in her truck on her way back to see her family. She wasn't sure how Tim felt about missing out on Thanksgiving but Tyra felt just awful. She knew that nothing had been done to cover up Tim's disappearance and she didn't imagine anything would be done for hers. She'd have just disappeared without a trace, leaving her family to think she'd either ran away from everything or that she was dead.

She kept trying to push it out of her mind but it was still there despite it all. There was only so much she could force out and all of this had been more than a little overwhelming.

Tyra had been adding to her mental list of questions as she went through the days. It was great living with Tim; she could ask away and because they weren't anywhere public, nobody was going to think she was an idiot for not knowing how things worked around here. She liked Savannah, who she'd met yesterday, but Tim was the person she'd go to first. He was her friend, she trusted him, and he knew her. Tyra figured he had to know how much she disliked being out of the loop.

Tyra had just finished training in the morning and, as before, made her way to where everybody ate lunch. She picked somebody new to talk to, one of the guys who she'd been told hadn't arrived long before her. She was pretty sure his name was Troy but she decided to err on the side of caution and check.

"Hey there- It's Troy, right?" she asked, smiling. "Mind if I eat lunch with you?"

"That's right," Tyra shook his hand before sitting, glad that this guy seemed friendly too. She had noticed so far that most of the non-agents were a lot easier to talk to. She looked across at the papers Troy seemed to be intent upon reading, making out that they were class notes. "You sure I'm not disturbing you? You seem to be pretty interested in those notes."

"So you've been here about a week longer than me, right?" she asked, giving him a bright smile. "How are you settling in? It's kinda crazy here, don't you think?"

Troy shook his head. "No, don't worry about it. They are notes on the criminal profiling class. It's actually quite interesting and can applies to a lot more than criminals, but please-" He gestured toward the chair. "Make yourself comfortable."

He waited for her to sit down, before taking a seat as well. "Yes, Sunday before yours, and it is crazy. I'm trying not to think about things too much, concentrate on what we have to do, get to know the people. I'm sure it will hit m at some point, but for now, I'll just take it as it comes if you know what I mean. What about you? Who are you staying with? Do you like your roommates?"

"So I don't have too much to be scared of when classes start next week then?" she asked, chuckling. "It does sound interesting but then I like learning new things. I keep trying to tell myself that at least some of the stuff we're learning is gonna be useful, you know?"

"Me too. Luckily all this training is distracting me right now and I have to concentrate at the range but- Tomorrow's going to suck," They had the day off and although they were going to be eating with the whole group and probably have a good time, she knew she'd be thinking of home. She really hoped Harvey hadn't been joking about the whiskey; she thought she'd need it by the end of the night. "So where did you come here from?"

"I'm living with Tim, Neal and Harvey, it's great. Tim and I have known each other forever, we're from the same town," She smiled. "It's so weird we both ended up here. Neal's kinda quiet but Harvey seems nice too from what I can tell. How about you?"

"No, on the contrary. I've enjoyed classes until now. Psych, criminal profiling, law and ethics, criminal law, and behavioral science, it's all very interesting. It's too bad that the classes are so short. This is stuff that you can cover in a semester," he said. "In fact, things like behavioral science and psych are used in the media to predict what people will watch or read, but I think you can apply it to just any other field."

Troy sighed. "I'm really trying not to think about that, but Savannah seemed to have mapped out the day for us, so maybe it'll help. I'm from New Mexico, but I was at Berkeley, last year of college, Media Studies, what about you?"

Troy tried to remember the names. He knew who Tim and Neal were, because they were in Advanced Training, but he didn't think he'd seen this Harvey man. "That's good, that you like living there and about Tim. There seem to be a few people that knew each other that ended up here. Maybe something with these experiments, concentrating in certain areas," he said with a shrug. "I'm living with Hetty and Nell. It's ... mindboggling. Hetty is the Assistant Director and you have to hear the way she speaks. The woman comes out of some cold war movie, and Nell is pretty smart too, intelligence analyst. She promised to show me what she does up there."

"You can use 'em in politics too," she said with a grin. "So I don't mind taking classes like that. I'm glad I asked, I wasn't sure if I was going to be bored out of my brains or reading incomprehensible textbooks all night."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to remind you. Though if it helps, I'm planning on buying something stronger for after the dinner Savannah's throwing. You're more than welcome to come and join me drinking it," she offered with a smile. And so perhaps some things had never changed and she'd never be the best influence but she didn't like thinking of anybody sad, including herself.

"Well, we got picked up from different parts of Texas but sure, it's a bit of a coincidence. It would have been weirder if we'd both been in Dillon though, it's barely a blip on the radar," she admitted with a smile. "I've heard their names, haven't met them yet though. Savannah asked me to sing on Saturday though so perhaps I'll see them there. It seems a lot of people go to the club, right?"

"Yes, you can, although that's really not my field. I was going to be a sportscaster," he told her. "No, you shouldn't worry. The classes are great, and if you survived advanced training with a SEAL, then classes will be a breeze," he said, laughing.

"Can you believe that we're training with a SEAL? These guys sneak into countries and kill people, and we're training with one." He shrugged. "Don't worry about it. It's not like I can exactly forget, no matter how much we try. "If you've got energy after a whole day of Thanksgiving partying, then why not. I've heard there is football planned. Played, I mean, and of course the watching kind, too. What's Thanksgiving without six hours of football, right?" he said, chuckling.

"Unless you come in together, and then it's not weird, because you're stepping in together." Troy laughed. "She's getting everyone to help. Sean has already roped me into it and I play the drums too. So I'll definitely see you then."

"Sportscaster? So do you play at Berkeley- What sport?" she asked, groaning a little when she mentioned the training classes. "Don't remind me, I'm pretty sure I ache in places I shouldn't. I've been promised they're not trying to kill me but sometimes it feels like it."

"We've got football?" Tyra's face brightened slightly. Sure, she didn't actually like football that much but that at least could make her feel more at home. She hoped she could play.. She thought tomorrow she'd probably have the anger at not being home to release and competitive sport was always pretty good for that. "Come live in Texas and try living without it," she agreed, laughing.

"Oh, he came months and months ago. I just meant if Dillon was a hotspot or something, that'd be pretty strange. Plus really, you wouldn't want some of the residents here. I'm not sure they'd even survive outside that town," she teased. "You play the drums? That's pretty cool. My singing isn't so great but I can hold a tune so that's something."

"Yes, and yes. I'm- I was on the basketball team. That's how I got my scholarship there." He smirked. "Don't like the classes? It does get better. I trained daily, weights, running, push ups, you know the works, but this still feels exhausting and Monday nights are brutal at the pool. Today is usually better, or was last week since I had the grand total of a week to figure it out."

He nodded. "I don't know the details, but you hear people talking. It's impossible not to, especially when Savannah is involved in something. She can be very ... open," he said with a grin. "I know; I was teasing. It was never that bad for me."

Troy started to put all the papers away to make room in case she wanted to put something on the table. "I don't want anyone I know to come here. As much as I'd like the company, it's not right. Well, maybe my ex, but then I might have to kill myself, having to deal with her on a daily basis, so maybe it's just better this way," he said, chuckling. "They practice on Saturday, or so I'm told. Ask Sean; he's the one to talk to about the singing."

"I went to the gym before, mostly because I felt I had to, but this doesn't even compare," Tyra smiled and shook her head. "I don't mind them, they're just really hard."

"I noticed, I met her at lunch yesterday. I already have the who's who of dating and have been warned about the dangers of sex," she said with a chuckle. "I hadn't even finished my sandwich by that point but she's nice, she reminds me of home a little bit. Nothing was a secret there either."

She looked at him sympathetically. Tyra knew only too well about exes and it wasn't always easy to see them. "Bad break-up?" she guessed. "I wouldn't want anybody I know to come here either but I'm glad Tim is or I wouldn't feel half as... Alright about this."

"As I said, I trained, two hours a day, and they are still hard," he said, laughing. "But if it makes you feel better, I don't think they are meant to be easy."

Troy groaned. "Please don't remind me." He was hardly a player like Penny had implied, but he liked sex. "Basically have sex and you can get sick or pregnant. It's like a right wing Christian's wet dream. I half expect to hear some evangelist tell me that it's God's punishment for living a life of sin."

He took a deep breath. "More like a too good relationship when we were young. I moved to California to be with her, even though Berkeley wasn't my first choice and even though it's a great school, I probably would have been happier somewhere else, so there's a lot of resentment there. I should have known though. My parents probably knew but my mom was so glad that I got into Berkeley that she didn't say anything."

"No, I'm sure they're not. Otherwise why would they put a SEAL in charge?" she questioned with a grin. "So what's been your favorite lesson so far? Are some of the agents better teachers than others?"

"I'm sure plenty of people would tell you that where I'm from," Tyra smiled. "It's not that bad though, I guess. It could be a lot worse. It just means people have to get creative although I didn't say so to Savannah. She didn't seem the type to appreciate it."

"I'm sorry, that can't have been easy," she said sincerely. "Though at least you have the good times to remember, right? And the resentment... It might get easier now you're away from there, crappy as it sounds. Besides, there's a lot of pretty women around. Maybe you'll find someone to take your mind off of things."
