RP: New Year's Eve Party
Who: Public
Where: Savannah's room
When: December 31, 2010
Summary: It's time to watch the ball drop

This wasn't the party that she had imagined. She had visioned that they would be in their own house, with everything cooked to perfection, but this was something she could do and instead of worrying about what could have been, she did her best to make this as welcoming as possible.

Savannah had obtained as much food as possible from the commissary. It turned out that they cooked, so there was thinly sliced roast beef that could fold it and eat it without a knife. She had made a tuna spread to go with it. It also seemed that many of the soldiers were from the South, which meant that she could find fried chicken wings. There were also plenty of chips, cheese spreads, cheese fondue, nachos, dates, nuts, and whatever finger food she could find. There was also a chocolate fondue, cookies and pies for dessert. Soda, beer and some spumante for the midnight.

She got dressed for the occasion in a sparkly dress. There was whatever pop music they had here. She didn't know most of the singers, but she knew what she liked and what was appropriate for a party. Everything was as good as it was going to get, and they were together, and right now, she didn't think that they could ask for much more. As the night progressed, she made sure that everyone was happy and having fun (or as much as you could in such small quarter). With food, music and beer, they just needed to wait for the ball to come down at midnight.

Marty laughed and nodded. "I can all ready imagine the look on his face." Something must have truly distracted Callen if he could have suggested a house warming party to Savannah of all people. "I think occasionally we even manage to act like we're not agents." At least on the surface. He doubted that Callen knew what it meant to turn off the agent mind and just enjoy a night without thinking about exits and suspicious looking people.

"You'll have to interrogate them when you see them next then." Marty nodded, not feeling bad at all about sicking Savannah on them. He couldn't help the snort he gave though when she told him that she hoped they would get a boyfriend or girlfriend doing any of this. It was far more likely that the two of them would hook up with each other than be willing to get involved with anyone on the team.

He managed a straight face as he nodded. "All right, no goats then because they're pretty." Really though? Goats pretty? They tasted good, but pretty was not really a word he attributed to goats. "Just lizards at the animal sacrifices." Kensi would have smacked him the moment she'd see the look in his eye when Savannah told him she'd heard about their parties, instead he was able to go off on a ridiculous tangent and Savannah seemed more than happy to humor him through it.

"Occasionally, when I force you to," she answered. "It happens even less with G, though. That was really a shocker, for him mostly, but it's still a great idea. When do you think we can go and see the house? I want to see what's in there and what we need."

Savannah snorted. "I'm not waiting. I'll go ask. If I were mean, I'd go there, bright and early, but I'd like to sleep in tomorrow." She squeezed his hand. "Are you coming over in the morning? I'd like for you to."

She chuckled. "Perfect. We've found the perfect animal for a sacrifice, although I really don't want to do one." Even joking about it sounded a little too sacrilegious. "A puppy is nice, though. Do you think that G would let me get one? Would you like one in the house? It wouldn't have to be a big one, but a small one. She could sleep with me. Do you like dogs?"

"Maybe Sunday, or Monday." He shrugged he wasn't really sure, Monday maybe since it was the start of the week, but then they'd probably have something to keep them busy so Sunday might be the better day.

He chuckled. "You'd be really mean to go over there tomorrow," If he knew Sam and Callen at all he could bet they were going to be busy with the games tomorrow. "I probably could, feel like subjecting yourself to a few college ball games?" He asked her. He knew she cheered for the games, but that didn't necessarily mean she wanted to watch them.

"Don't worry, I have never and never plan on taking part in any kind of sacrifices, of lizards or otherwise." He assured her with a grin. He was confused for just a moment though when Savannah told him a puppy was nice, hadn't she just said they were too cute to - oh well that made more sense. "Um, you know I'm not sure what Callen would say to something like that." He admitted with a shrug, though it would probably sound something like choking. "I do like dogs, I get to work with the bomb sniffing dogs for the department." He told her

"That's fine. It's not like I have something else to do. Just let me know and I'll be ready." She couldn't wait to see the house and move in.

"I didn't say that I'm not going, just not first thing in the morning," she said, laughing. "But yeah, I can watch college football. There is plenty to munch on during the games." She leaned closer. "I'm hoping that we can do something else during plays, replays, half times and all those nice TV breaks."

Savannah didn't know why they were still arguing about sacrifices since they were obviously both joking by now, but it was fun to talk about inconsequential things. "I guess I'll have to ask him, but only if you don't mind. There's a difference between liking them and wanting them in the house. Would you like one or not? It's fine if you don't. I couldn't keep one on campus, so it's not like I'm not used to that."

He nodded. "We'll figure it out."

"Well not first thing in the morning, is probably a good starting point." Marty said shaking his head at her as she laughed. He couldn't help the way he arched his eyebrow when she leaned closer to him saying her hopes for the way they'd spend some of their time the next day. It was only because he knew her that he knew for certain she wasn't suggesting anything that might first jump to mind, not that it stopped those thoughts from cropping up. "I'm sure we can find something to entertain ourselves during half times and replays."

"As long as it's not something so tiny I'll trip over it and squish it." Marty said finally. "I like dogs, but usually the bigger ones. And I've never really been in a situation where I could actually have one - you know with my job and all that, I'd be gone for long periods of time and a dog should have someone around."

"I told you I"m being nice, mostly because I want them to answer my questions. I don't know if they would if I show up at seven, not that I plan to be up that early anyway," she confessed.

Savannah grinned when he raised his eyebrow. "Whatever you're thinking, it's not as bad." She kissed him again, sighing happily. "I know we will."

She chuckled. "Did I mention that my dog was five pounds? Does that qualify as tiny? And you wouldn't squish her, because I can carry her." She knew that she was dreaming again. This wasn't home and things weren't so easy. "Let's get settled in the house and then I'll talk to G, and we can see if we can even take care of one, or maybe two, a small maltipoo and a bigger one you can pick. I can run with them, well the big one, small ones just stay on the couch. You throw the ball twice and then she sleeps for hours. There's plenty of room here at the base to run, though."

He chuckled. "Interrupting tomorrow might not exactly go over as being nice." He warned her. "But I suppose I can see the niceness in the way you're at least letting them sleep in some." Though he doubted either Callen or Sam even knew how to sleep in.

"I know it's not." He assured her, it was just highlighting the differences between them, the way his mind heard more in the things she said than what she meant. But he knew the difference, he knew it and didn't expect more, because as nice as sex might have been it wasn't really about that.

"Five pounds? That does not sound like a dog to me." He chuckled when Savannah told him she could carry the dog - any dog you could carry around was not actually a dog. She certainly had ideas about dogs though, he would give her that. And Marty briefly wondered how much of that had been a part of her life plan before and how much was she making up now. Probably not the bigger dog.

"Interrupting what? Watching a few games that never end? Please, and besides, I can only go when we aren't watching, so I'm not interrupting anything." She had no intention of going anywhere as long as Marty was with her, anyway, so they might just be free and clear of her.

She was still holding his hand, and she led his arm behind her back. "I wasn't worried. I trust you; you know that, right?"

Savannah nodded. "Five pounds and she was an awesome dog. She did everything with me. I carried her around everywhere and she had her own bag and I used to carry her, but I can see how that's not the type of dog you want. Let me guess? A German Shepherd or a Labrador?"

"To some men, football is a sacred thing." Or in some cases, just the time spent watching the games, and not the games so much - traditions and all that. "I think that might be a good plan." Marty nodded with a grin when she suggested going when they weren't busy.

He let Savannah put his arm around her, and let himself feel her smaller frame against his. "I'm glad you do." Now whether that trust was entirely merited was another matter entirely, but he did at least plan on doing what he could to keep her from being hurt, no matter how much they misunderstood one another.

Chuckling when Savannah guessed what types of dogs he might like. "I am a fan of German Shepherds and Labrodors, course I like the mutts too. Really I've never bothered too much with the breeds of dogs, a dog is a dog." When it was actually a dog and not a tea cozy.

"What about you? Would you rather go and watch with them?" she asked. "You don't have to come and keep me company. I can find something to do, minus the making out. I'm not planning on doing that with anyone else, no matter what G says. Making out and having sex with people because of a job? That's crazy." She looked up at him, frowning. "Did you ever do that?"

She sighed. "I do, but if you ever have to do something like what G said, I want to know, okay? Don't lie to me. I have had enough of that. In fact, if you want to have sex with someone, I'd like to know that too. You don't have to tell me the who, just that you want to."

She chuckled. "A dog is a dog unless it's a small dog, and then it's not a dog. I got it. I guess we can figure out all of that when we get settle."
