Teresa wasn't sure why she'd gone completely rigid upon entering the nearest grocery store. The oddest feeling had come over her, and she had to take a moment to regroup her thoughts. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she understood the concept of a grocery store. It was a place where people went to buy food products in order to feed themselves and their families, but for the life of her, Teresa couldn't remember ever walking into one. It wasn't clear to her if she had never actually walked into one or if the memory wipe had taken it away from her like the rest of her past experiences. But one thing was for sure, Teresa was on the verge of a mini panic attack.
She glanced all around her at the people going about their daily business, picking up fruits and sampling their freshness. She heard the distinct worrisome conversation of the vampire attacks that had been plaguing the city for days now. She watched families and individuals alike acting perfectly normal (or what she presumed was normal for a grocery store environment), and yet she couldn't bring herself to move another inch inside the place. What the hell had she been thinking? Well, she had wanted to pick up some things in order to stock up the pantry in the apartment. It was plainly evident that Stiles (or whatever the hell his name was) didn't have the initiative to do such things. So she took it upon herself to brave the crowds and head for the supermarket.
Except now that she was here, all she could do was stare. Her mind had gone blank, and she would have given anything to feel Thomas by her side. She always felt so much braver when he was around, not that she would ever admit that to him. But this... all of this was so overwhelmingly new that Teresa almost felt tears prickling in the back of her eyes. No. She couldn't do this. Not here, not in front of all these people. She was so much stronger than that. She knew she was. Though at the moment, the most prominent thought in her mind was to turn around and head out the door.
The second she whirled around in place to rush out of the exit, Teresa accidentally bumped into someone that was entering the supermarket. "I'm so sorry," she blurted out immediately and prayed that no one had seen that one rogue tear falling down her cheek before she caught it with the back of her hand.
