Veronica was on a mission to get some more stuff for Steve's party. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. But they didn't know how many people would show up, and she wanted to make sure they had enough. Kamekona would be there with his shrimp truck, but not everyone liked shrimp or someone might even be allergic. So she was getting them some more stuff. Steve of course, was in charge of the grill, but snacks and sides were never a bad idea.
She was without an armed escort, since it was daytime. She understood that Steve was protective, but she'd be damned if she didn't get to go to the store on her own. She had borrowed his truck, since it seemed like the best option to put groceries in the back of. It was a big truck, and it made her feel even smaller than she was.
She was heading into the store when a girl about Marley's age bumped into her. She looked...distressed, so immediately Veronica was concerned. "It's okay." She told her gently. She probably should have left it at that and made her way into the store, but she didn't. "Are you okay?" She asked, wondering what made her this way. Surely bumping into someone wasn't punishable by death where she was from. Then again, no one had expected vampires to be real here either.
