HEY GUYS.
All the things to talk about!
Hiiiii. How is everyone? Good? Great. SO. Onto business.
Zombies
This event will be coming to a close soon, within the next few weeks. First I'd like to thank everyone for participating and really getting into this. I felt like it was an actual success and that we all enjoyed it, and I hope we can keep this up in future events.
Now, things you will need to know for the end of your zombie apocalypse:
-Deaths: Yes, a lot of people will be dead after the cure is distributed but anyone who was in relatively good shape as a zombie will be cured and survive. Anyone who was shot in the head as a zombie or was a reanimated corpse to begin with will obviously not survive. Still, at least 20% of the zombies were reanimated dead people to begin with and while you have to account for some zombies being gored, I'd say for the most part, infected living people will survive after they're cured they'll just need medical attention for whatever bites and cuts and broken bones they have.
-Worldwide: It may seem like a huge population drop but it isn't, really. The U.S. was hit harder than a lot of other places in the world so this virus probably didn't make an insane dent in the world population.
-Damage: As for the city, the damage (aside from the Avengers tower) is mostly cosmetic. Car pile ups, bodies in the street, broken glass but for the most part the city is still standing. There will just be the dead and mourning and stuff to worry about.
-Recovery: Sure, it'll take some time but isn't impossible. We're all superhumans and geniuses and stuff so working together, we'll get everything put back together. The comics-verse goes through stuff like this all the time. Just treat it how you would any other disaster and have your characters cope however they'd like. Basically just go about your everyday lives with ocasional references to being sad and, I don't know, cleaning stuff up. We won't be drinking lattes from Starbucks or going to sports games anytime soon, but I'd say wa can assume everything can get somewhat back to normalcy within a month or two.
-The Cured: Tony will be distributing the cure in the clouds so, when it rains people will be cured. It'll happen pretty quickly. For the sake of not having a completely screwed up rest of their lives, people who became zombies thankfully don't remember being a zombie. They would remember being bitten and probably a few minutes up to when the virus took over, but they won't have memories of actually eating people or killing their family or anything. Because that would be super sucky and therapists would suddenly be the richest professionals in the world.
-Future Events-
I know I said we'd be doing a sort of thing where we'd suddenly be plopped into other times/realities for extended periods but to be honest, that is actually a lot easier in theory than in practice. It's a difficult concept to explain to new people and even more difficult to try to actually do in terms of how do we disappear completely from our universe for weeks or months at a time and then handle getting back on track and figure out if we have any memory at all of the events. Not to mention the fact that maybe not everyone will want to be involved in or (for those with multiple characters) have all of our characters involved in these events and things just start to get complicated. However, solutions have been created.
As some of you may have noticed, you're all members of the oh_whatif community again. If you haven't noticed then hey, look, you're part of that again so make sure you go to your asylum invites and accept. For those of you who may not know what it is, it's an off shoot community I created so that we could play out alternate timelines, settings, etc without it affecting our regular games continuity. Everything from our characters as book characters to cracky plots where we're all cats, whatever you want to do go ahead and do it here. Play to your hearts content. If something gets really popular we can find a way to make it bleed over into the regular game.
For gamewide events in the future they'll probably be along the same lines as zombies, where it's things happening to us in the "here and now" as opposed to be transported to a place or time and then having to come back to our world and pick up the pieces all over again, repeatedly. Another option, for when we do want some time travel or whatever, is that players can opt for a few of their characters to be involved and it can be "we're all at this particular place and all get transported" which allows for everyone else to carry on their usual plot lines and when the others return allows for everyone to be all "Where the eff were you? Omg!"
tl;dr summary: plots outside our continuity in the oh_whatif and gamewide plots requiring displacement will be by choice.
So anyway, that's the news that's fit to print! Comments? Questions? Concerns? Quesadillas?
