That wasn't the most encouraging answer and Lorna deflated a bit at it, eyes lowering to watch her fingers as she twisted her shoelaces even more. But... he had referred to the place as her 'home'. That was good... right?
She shrugged as if whatever she said didn't matter, "I was already planning on coming back eventually... It just seemed as good a reason as any..." Lorna surprised herself with the answer. It wasn't the whole truth. There was more to it and that was obvious in how she held herself, but what surprised her was that she had been planning on coming back. Really planning on coming back and not just stopping in. When had she decided that?
In space. That was when.
"I... you know about the request for volunteers they had... to go to space... I..."
Lorna rubbed the back of one hand against her eyes, wiping the beginning of tears away. She had survived, she wasn't dead. Nothing to cry about.
"I was with them... And I... I almost didn't come back. Would you have missed me if I hadn't?"
