The front window blinds shifted open for the sixteenth time as Tommy peered outside and waited on his chickadee. So Jean was coming over tonight to hang out. Most of the leg work for her arrival was finished, and Tommy was standing idly by getting more impatient than ever. He was slowly discovering that the only thing worse than waiting for people to answer the door, was waiting on people to get to his place. Not that he wasn’t excited. It was kind of cool to be hanging out with his girlfriend without the threat of Xavier, or Polaris barging in on them. Jean living with the worlds’ most powerful telepath didn’t make things all that comforting when it came to pushing forward with a making out.
For the thirty-first time Tommy decided to check on the pizza in the oven, then clean the house-again. Most people thought having super speed made living easier, but in reality it only made things worse. Sure cleanup was easy, but it was also repetitive. Tommy had a bad habit of whipping the counter so many times that on occasion he accidentally rubbed the paint off. He zoomed back to the window and thought about calling Jean, again. Where was she? Why could she be as early as he wanted her to be?
