It must be that old old evil spirit-
Characters: Nick, Daimon, later Wanda
Setting: Streets of Brooklyn, Noonish on 1/30
Content: Violence
Summary: Something weirder than usual happens with a wormhole and Nick doesn't like it. Wanda plays the good Samaritan.
Nick hoped this didn't take too fucking long, he wanted to make an appearance at the Avengers thing and corner Bruce and Stark. He checked his watch and listened to the countdown in his ear, A.R.M.O.R. contingent around him, all with their face upturned towards the sky. The area was cordoned off, the search should be quick. This wormhole wasn't registering any monsters, just a D.E.C., and with the street cleared they ought to be able to retrieve and contain it before it did whatever it came here to do and wreaked havoc. Fury crossed his arms and stared upward, sure he saw a ripple in the atmosphere over the street. The calm voice in his ear paused suddenly in its countdown to say "Sir. There's something coming through-" Brows furrowed, Nick answered, "Yeah? That's why we're here." Other agents nearby listening to the exchange dropped their gaze from the sky to look at their commander. Fury frowned at the answer he got, "No, sir. We've got the signature of the D.E.C. but there's something else. A lot of them. Alive." Monsters? Fuck.
This wasn't supposed to be from the god damn monster dimension. "Weapons!" Fury barked at his detachment, all of them pulling guns and training them at the wavering spot overhead where the wormhole was forming. With an earsplitting roar it ripped open, guns cocked and energy blasters whirred into life all around him. Nick's own pistol was pointed, unwavering, upwards. The D.E.C. came through first; about the size of a cantaloupe, it was metallic and spiky, lit by its own inner glow of iridescent colors. Two agents darted forward to recover it, enclosing it in a virtually indestructible container and rushing away with it, out of the line of fire. The things came next, fiery shrieking balls that plummeted to the Earth and picked themselves up to growl and gnash sharp teeth at the agents and their guns. Hulking and grotesque, the creatures were crimson-skinned and ugly, with ridges of sharp bone along their muscled bodies and long sinewy tails. Definitely monsters. Definitely not friendly.
"Fire," he commanded and a barrage of bullets and energy beams went off simultaneously. Fury took a few shots, but the beasts were resilient, hard to take down. He kept his attention on the portal, waiting for it to close, and saw as a last fireball landed and rose, a different creature from the others. This one was smaller and more humanoid, but too-pale with glowing red eyes set in a snarling face and long nasty claws. Undying flames licked over its head even after the fireball of its arrival faded. The fiery trident in its hand looked sharp, treacherous, and Fury had enough experience gauging his enemies to figure out that this guy was some kind of leader. Probably more powerful than the others, more dangerous. Fury aimed a kill shot at its head and pulled the trigger.
