don't turn your back, danger surrounds you
Characters: Colleen Wing, Jessica Jones
Setting: Alias Investigations - Noon
Content: Jessica
Summary: Business opportunity! Colleen needs help with a personal case.
The conversation had now turned into a blend of English and Japanese, her voice and her father's overlapping each other in a simultaneous attempt to tell the other not to worry. "I am not the one who gets stalked by ninjas on the regular," she argued inside her helmet, tilting her body and her bike on a round corner. Colleen was sure that he could hear the smile in her voice when she said, "Monsters don't have anything to do with it," and turned out into a narrow one-way onto the next street, moving in and out of traffic. Monsters hadn't put the hits out on him. They hadn't put the hits out on her and Misty either, but she knew what he was saying, and peacefully amended, "I know, and I'll be careful. Hai. With that, and with this."
Part of the job was dealing with retaliation from the people Knightwing put in jail. The supervillains were good for that after their release, but it was all in a day’s work. The attack on her father, though, that hadn’t come from a bail-jumping criminal bent on vengeance.
Colleen parked a block from the apartment complex and stepped onto the frosted pavement, hooking her helmet onto her motorcycle before starting her walk. Once she got to the building, she went in and took the elevator up, idly checking the address she had on her phone, to be sure. Alias Investigations. She’d left a voicemail earlier, but her case, like most cases, was better explained in person. The other agencies she’d contacted weren’t so keen on the idea of investigating a mob queen with a ninja gang, if they were willing to believe it in the first place. Even if they did, she understood why they didn't want to take the risk. But Colleen's situation called for the extra help, and it’s what brought her to Alias’ doorstep, knocking.
