Clearly, if Billy hadn't guessed already, they were being watched, because Sitwell only nodded and idly woke up his tablet screen while he waited the few seconds for another agent to let herself in and leave them with a paper cup and plastic pitcher. She had nothing to say, even as Sitwell thanked her before she closed the door behind her, sealing them back into the poorly lit room alone. Sitwell finally took his seat, thoughtful hand to his mouth as he scrolled through the limited incident report still flat on the table.
"Have you ever been detained before?" he eventually began, conversationally like he was prepared to walk Billy through the process if he needed help getting his bearings. Not that he really expected a complete confession if this young man had been a prime murder suspect before, but the answer couldn't be completely useless.
