If you had the courage to stop me-
Characters: Alex, US Agent
Setting: Afternoon, Midtown Highschool, Queens
Content: Secret Nick Fury
Summary: Alex needs to stop playing around with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s network. Nick needs to shut this down.
In a shitty pay-by-week apartment in Brooklyn a particular bleep sounded, muffled, from a bag slung over the back of a rickety chair. Nick Fury looked around and then set his cardboard container of moo goo gai pain on the nightstand. He muted the soap opera he'd been watching on Telemundo (his Spanish was pretty good, mother fucking Rosetta Stone) and listened. There it was again, a special alert on his phone. Like the rest of Hammer's Avengers, US Agent had access to the S.H.I.E.L.D. network but, unlike the others, he also had a secret viral program on the servers. Though maybe his teammates had their own spyware, with these assholes you had to expect the worst. Nick's program alerted him to certain identity log ins, where they signed in from, and what they were doing in the network.
Nick knew before he even checked his phone who was illicitly logged in. This intruder got his own special tones to alert to any of his many identities. He was an excellent hacker and brash as hell. He was also fourteen and a pain in the ass. Alex might have been able to get into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s network undetected, but if Fury could catch it (and not protect him), it would only be a matter of time before someone else detected him there. There was a time that might not have mattered, but not when Alex was on Hammer's watch list as Fury's past kidnap victim. Pretending he didn't know Nick was all good and well(Fury saw that shit with the LMD and admittedly, he was impressed, the kid had a mean poker face), but fucking it up by sneaking into the network wasn't going to help either of them. Probably, it'd get the kid taken from his Dad again. Alex's Dad- Nick didn't even want to think about having to face that guy.
His alert told him that the log in occurred at Midtown High in Queens, which really didn't surprise him all that much. Of course that motherfucker would be hacking into highly sensitive and secure government digital infrastructure instead of listening to a history lesson or making paper airplanes or whatever the fuck normal kids did in normal high schools. Nick didn't know. He rarely dealt with 'normal.' What he did deal with was assholes who couldn't follow rules, that seemed to pretty much be the only kind of people he surrounded himself with. Maybe that said something about him, Nick didn't know.
Nick was surprised at how far his US Agent costume and Avengers ID could get him, when he could just stroll into the office and ask after a specific student. There was a little fuss while they made him a visitor badge, checked his credentials, looked up Alex Aaron's schedule. Soon Nick was strolling down the hallway, a little vistor's badge pinned to his costume, nodding at anyone he came across. Some kids milling around snapped pictures with their phones, others simply stared, unimpressed. They were used to this kind of thing around here. Fury only took a wrong turn once before he found himself at one of the media labs where the kid was in a tech class (clearly studying as hard as he could). Nick rapped once on the door then stepped inside, his gaze sweeping over the students before it landed on Alex. He crooked a finger and motioned the kid out into the hall. He had to shut this shit down before it got them both in hot water.
