You made this harder than it had to be-
Characters: Nick and Contessa
Setting: Rio, evening
Content: Nick Fury
Summary: The enemy of my enemy is my friend. For now.
This place was so familiar. The smells of the city, the beach, even the hotel smelled exactly the same. It always had. So many memories here, some really great ones and then one really bad one. The worst one, maybe, of his life and he'd been through some rough shit. The lobby hadn't changed an iota, and when he got the key the man behind the desk, white haired and wrinkled as ever, gave him a little wink. Like some horrible fucking deja vu. And then there her- Nick could smell her perfume before he even saw her. It used to drive him wild. For a second it almost overcame him but he shook his head. Why the fuck was he doing this? The room key got tossed on the little table beside the door where hers was laying and he shrugged out of his coat but left his guns in their holsters.
"Motherfucker downstairs recognized me," he said into the darkness, peering at her figure outlined in moonlight through the balcony doors. He hadn't seen her since he'd gone looking for her during the zombie shit. She'd been so hard to find then but here she was now, meeting up with him like it was nothing. "After all this time." This was their place, their room- the room, he spared an uneasy look at the bed where he'd lost his eye- hell, it was even the time of year they used to come here together.
There was a time in his life where Rio had been his favorite place in the world and she'd been his favorite woman. Up to recently, though, he'd have given anything to shoot her in the face. Things changed though, and people. So again, why the fuck was he here? Because, he admitted grudgingly to himself, he needed the bitch (it always came back to that in some way or another, but he wasn't going to even think about that complicated shit). "Val," he greeted her and took a few more steps into the room, watchful and careful. "Thanks for agreeing to see me."
