Hey guys, I'm sorry to do this, but I'm facing a RL crisis at the moment. My husband is in the military and has been deployed in Iraq for a little more than a year now and is due to come home in a few weeks, and we just received notice that his civilian job is letting him go, which they can do because they're letting go a number of people who were in the same seniority/tenure bracket. So... in a month, we'll have no income. I have been out of work for school, and I'm 6months preg, which is NOT the time to look for a job (damn the pill on those home visits...)

Anyways, it's not a lack of time, but I just can't get the juices flowing to write well right now, so I'm going to have to take a break until I find out what's happening in my life.

You can kill Ryan if you want, or just put him on hiatus. And the mutants he bought can godmod him or find new owners. I have no problem with either, and no preference.

I'm sorry to do this to you guys. This is an awesome game, and so I just wanted to let you all know why I was dropping out of everything for now.

Nellie

Dear loving players,

We are very happy to see you all desire to move your characters up, however, we feel the need to outline one very specific concept. Block colors do not change easily. On an island with many more people than we actually have characters for, it is highly unlikely that your character can raise their rank in one or two fights. We see this concept as needing to span multiple tournaments because a change in color block is significant and takes more time than that.

Because of this, unless you follow the rules, all block change requests will be denied. This maintains that only good fighters can and will raise up in color blocks when they've accomplished something grand enough for just that option. It takes character skill and a long process of written effort.

Moving up requires more than simply doing well in a tournament, it requires a strong enough, consistent enough, display to make the name whispered among gamblers. Occasionally a mutant may put on a dangerous display and be moved for lack of security, however most mutants will need to work for weeks if not months to gain enough reputation in order to move up. As outlined in the rules, you should not expect to move a new mutant up for at the very least a month, less if they are not consistently fighting.

We are not doing this or saying this to ruffle your feathers or step on toes. It simply is a challenge that we want all of our players to rise to in time. We want to read wonderful fights or situations that make us go "Wow. THAT deserves attention". The island houses literally hundreds of mutants, and this wasn't a game designed to see how fast you could climb the ranks. We want to see effort, desire and activity. While the tournaments are a huge focus of the island, the focus of the game itself is characters. We want to see characters work toward a goal, strive to improve, or simply deal with the situation they have found themselves in. This is the point of the game, to see your characters cope with the situation, not a blind race to the top.

That being said, We are sorry that there might have been some misleading statements in the last mod post in regards to the tournament. It clearly states in the rules that all block changes must be mod approved and it also states that moving up requires at least a month of activity before someone would be considered. If The Mods feel your character needs to be moved up then we will let you know. If you REQUEST it, then wait it out. Put in a month of solid writing and then we can consider your character for a block transition.

Sincerely yours,
The Mods

PS: The pages have been given a new look and several new info pages added. Visit the Site Map to find all the new pages, all but two are up and active and include a great deal of information, including information for new mutants.

Hello!

Kelly here, and I bring you Brian "Lucky" Nott.

He's going to be a human guard with a vendetta against mutants and on a mission to get revenge on his old man. He would be all up for tormenting the Freaks, and is totally open to plot. He's going to enjoy his roll as The Man to the hilt, and take advantage of it at every turn.

Need a leash on your trip to the arena? A beat down? Someone to foil an escape attempt? Or want to scene out the capture of a new mutant? Lucky's your man!
