Some human reactions were contagious, such as laughter, snoring, and, sometimes, crying. Seeing this poor girl crying, however for a short time, had brought tears to Eve's eyes. She didn't mention it, though, because she managed to dry her own eyes way before the brunette could notice anything.
Eve placed a hand on the girl's, but wasn't sure what to say at all. What does one say in such a situation, anyway? There was an extensive list of clichés, but Eve didn't do well with them, and the girl would definitely not appreciate any of them, like everybody else. Clichés only worked before they became clichés, after all.
"I know I can't do anything. Really, I do. But I definitely can't turn my back and walk away on you now...You know?" There. Not as eloquent as usual, but maybe that was part of 'changing'.
