"No," Savannah said with a quick shake of her head that threatened to send everything spinning again. Fortunately, this time, her rattled brains held onto the world, and everything remained as it should. Her tears were beginning to flow more freely now, encouraged by Eve's gentle words.
"No one can help. They're gone. Just go--!"
Forced to admit it out loud, her voice caught mid-word as a sob was loosed. It was a desperate sound, partly quenched by her desire not to burden a random person with her problems. Oh, but it was already too late! Once started, her tears simply would not stop, and she buried her face in her hands to miserably allow the tears to run their course.
