So she said what everyone in those circumstances would say, but not mean. She said she was fine, but Eve could clearly see she wasn't. This wasn't the sort of thing she did - then again she'd been doing and feeling a lot of things she didn't normally do or feel lately - but for some reason, Eve found herself sitting down besides the girl.
Eve didn't speak at first, she didn't even look at the girl. But she thought if she didn't, soon, the girl would limp away or start arguing, so Eve quickly thought of something to say.
"I'm Eve. And I can see you're far from fine." She turned to the brunette. "Look, you don't know me, I've never seen you on this ship, so if you want to talk to a stranger, pour your heart out, and never have to deal with me again, you can. And you don't even have to listen to me in return!" She finished, smiling expectantly.
Apparently, some of Jack's 'goodness' had rubbed off on her at some point. Eve now cared about strangers.
