Good Morning, Sunshine! Who: Jerome and Leto (and Levon) When: Morning Where: Their rooms
Knowing that his daughter had been up late the night before, Jerome slipped into his daughter's room in the morning to take Levon to breakfast. He'd left a note, in case she woke in their absense, but things went quite smoothly. Jerome loved the company of his grandson -- Levon's high energy and cheer were quite infectious. When they returned the rooms, it was with breakfast for Leto. Jerome made an effort to be silent in opening the door, but his efforts were wasted. The second the door was open Levon bolted.
"Mommy!" he cried out, running through to the bedroom and taking a flying leap onto Leto's bed. And Leto. "We got you bweakfast!"
"Ooomf!" Leto was awake all at once, and she was relatively certain she'd just been kicked in her spleen. She rolled over onto her back, and her son plunked down on her stomach, all smiles, with powdered sugar on his face. Someone had found donuts. Lovely. He was going to be utterly insane all morning. "Well good morning, baby." she murmured, fighting back a yawn.
"Are you hungry? We brought you bweakfast!" Levon repeated.
"Oh, starved." Leto assured him. "Why don't you go wash your face and then I'll eat." Levon scrambled off of her, nearly kicking her in the stomach as he did so, and Leto half laughed and half groaned as she put a pillow over her head.
"Oh I do so like to see the two of you like this." Jerome said, standing now in the bedroom doorway. "Beautiful retribution for all the Christmases and Fathers Days you did this to me."
"Is that what this is?" Leto asked, tossing the pillow aside and getting out of bed. She yawned as she put her robe and slippers on, already feeling a Levon-shaped-bruise forming. "Remind me to apologize later." Then she heard splashing coming from the bathroom. "Oh for pity's sake..."
"Eat." Jerome told his daughter as he smiled warmly. He himself headed into the bathroom just in time to see that the sink was overflowing. He reached over his grandson to turn the water off and pull the plug, and toweled the boy off. Had he known how many sorts of sweets they'd find at the grand buffet he would have done things drastically different. "Alright now, go on." He'd have to leave a tip for the maids. At least he was out of the terrible twos.
Leto had gone out to the main room where a bag was waiting on the coffee table, next to a cup of coffee. Thank God. She sat on the couch and went straight for the coffee. She'd had an impossible time getting Levon to go to sleep last night - he had been of the opinion that no lights meant it was adventure time. Leto had other ideas.
Jerome joined his daughter and took a seat in one of the armchairs, while Levon ran to the bag to start showing his mother all the delicious and pink things he'd brought her. Donuts, yogurt, fruit... for some reason the color had been terribly important.
Leto ooh'd and ah'd where she knew she was supposed to, and when she finally agreed to eat Levon ran off to play with his toys. "What on earth did you feed him?" she asked, smirking over at her dad.
"He had practically freebased a tower of donuts before I knew what had happened. I shoulder no blame." Jerome responded with a grin. "I managed to get half a bowl of oatmeal in him, along with some juice, but he was much more concerned with the things he can't get at home. He is thoroughly enjoying his vacation."
"Well, that's all that matters." Leto said, over another yawn. "He loved last night. That boy has no fear. I thought the halls were a little creepy, but he hasn't stopped playing warriors ever since the captain's talk of the Odyssey."
Jerome smiled warmly. "His grandmother would have loved to see that." he said, shaking his head. "Sounds like you lucked out then, my dear. You'd be much more sleep deprived if you'd been putting up with a terrified toddler all day."
Leto smiled wistfully at the mention of her mother, and nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I lucked out." she agreed. "...At least there's nothing in here he can break." Hopefully. Leto picked up a donut that was dripping with pink icing and sprinkles and eyed it cautiously. Ah, what the hell. She took a massive bit and leaned back into the couch cussions. "How was your night?"
"Very interesting." Jerome answered. "I met a rather fascinating man on the deck. Works as a paranormal investigator. He was kind enough to let me drill him for interesting tidbits."
Leto smiled a bit. "I'm sure that was great fun for you." she said. Her dad wanted to know everything about everything.
"It was, it was." Jerome agreed. "I talked to him about Levon, as well." This said as he eyed his daughter carefully -- try as he might, he couldn't predict how she'd react to that.
Leto stopped mid-bite and stared at him. "...Did you now?" she asked, eyes narrowing slightly. She wasn't at all sure how she felt about that, so she was reserving judgement. "What was said?"
"It was quite informative." Jerome answered. "He said that what he sees can't harm him, but that he could create a warding that would mean nothing that means him harm could come near him. However, the other spirits might see it and feel offended and go away, too. I told him I'd tell you about it, and he said you or I could contact him. Even if we just had more questions."
A warding. What the hell was a warding? In theory, she had the idea, but how did that work? Would it be something she could take away if she didn't like what it did to Levon? Whether or not it made her nervous - Levon liked his visitors. If they went away, would it make him unhappy? Would it change him? She may talk a lot about what a handful he was, but she loved her energetic little warrior. "...I'd have to think about that."
Jerome nodded. "I thought that you would." he easily replied. "I wrote his room number at your desk if you decide you'd like to talk to him. He seemed like a good, honest man. I'd love a few hours to pick his brain."
Leto smirked again as she resumed eating. That would never change. How comforting. "Thank you. I'll figure it out when I'm properly awake." Hopefully. Why did it feel like such a hard decision? Because I have no idea what I'm in the middle of. This whole area is completely over my head." Yeah, that would do it. Maybe she would have to talk to this person herself.
