Who: Matt and Gregory Where: The Circean Delight When: Early evening
It wasn't his and Maddie's shift yet this time. Which meant that after the meeting, Matt had yet again been left with nothing to do. He could go to Ella, certainly, and she would most likely be open to anything, but that wasn't the kind of headspace he was in. Which, in itself, was pretty worrisome.
He should be eating, he couldn't remember the last time he'd had anything remotely similar to a meal. But he still wasn't that hungry, which meant only a sandwich and coffee. Over very deep morose thoughts. He still wasn't over Lynne's disappearance and it was unlikely that he'd ever be. Lately he'd been thinking about how he'd much rather have kept on hating her and having her hate him; then he wouldn't give a shit.
But no, they had to find common ground and act civilized, and somewhere along the way become friends. Awkward friends, but still friends. And now Matthew Evans was hurting, and he didn't even know what the hell to do with these kinds of feelings. It would be much better if he just didn't have them at all.
