Who: Andie and Slav.
When: Early afternoon.
Where: Thalia's Diner.
What: A random encounter at the diner.
Andie spent the majority of the morning either on her sofa watching television or on the deck smoking. It wasn’t a kosher way to spend time out at sea; she could at least admit that. The woe-is-me and the pity-party were attributes that were getting old. She didn’t need Dylan to tell her that. She was well-aware that her attitude sucked and she knew she wasn’t doing much to improve, despite what she’d been promising. The whole point of coming had been to get away and have a good time, and typically when she was with Dylan, this was easy to accomplish. The catch inherent in that plan was that Dylan was vastly more social than Andie was.
But there it was. After stubbornly refraining from getting out socializing, Andie was faltering. Boredom could be blamed. Her room was gorgeous and there was plenty in there to do, but it also came with the risk of being a hermit. On vacation. Her pale complexion wasn’t going to tan itself, new acquaintances weren’t going to be made in her room and her brother was certainly going to get tired of dragging her out kicking and screaming every time he wanted to do something.
The easiest, most convenient way to start out was just by going to lunch. It was pretty simple. She got dressed up in a cute sundress, put on a pair of cheap but comfortable flip flops, and headed out of her room. A book was brought along for the ride, just in case, a fact that she would probably be berated for by anyone that knew her. Andie didn’t stop to talk to anyone, but whenever she met someone’s gaze, she always politely smiled.
She ended up in the diner shortly after the lunch rush, but it was still pretty packed. Most tables were filled, but Andie lucked out getting one to herself. It at least meant that bringing the book hadn’t been in vain, and shortly after sitting down, it was opened. It was most certainly not the most exhilarating way to spend the afternoon, but at least she was out of the room. It was a step in the right direction.
