It'd been a long time since Rogue had had a good night's rest, and to be honest, she wasn't sure what had spurned this one on. Maybe it's cause I'm all alone, she thought. Kinda strange, just having the one voice in my head, instead of everyone else's.

God, the Hive. It was coming back to her. The baby. Gambit. Mystique. All of it. And now, here she was, away from everyone that ever knew her, in a small bed and breakfast near Perth. No wonder she was relaxed. She'd left as soon as she could, but Jean had forced a communicator on her, so she wasn't too out of touch with everyone.

And there was the question of the team. Rogue groaned and rolled on to her side, hugging her pillow to her head. She had left them, and while no one had begrudged her, she still felt as if she'd abandoned them. This is why she'd never used the communicator, not once, in the few weeks she'd been gone. After all, the purpose of this trip was to see who she really was on her own. Now, with her head as clear as it'd ever been, she was finally taking the time to see who Anna Marie really was, and all Rogue could see was that, given the opportunity, sleeping in was a great thing.

You should be outside, training right now.

Well, the quiet was good while it lasted. "Ah'm not talkin' to you," she muttered to herself. She'd always done well, silencing the voices in her head, but it seemed like her mother's psyche just wouldn't be abated.

You're going to go soft, Anna. Is that what you want?

"Yes." She was glad no one else was around, because this whole 'talking to yourself' thing was hard enough to explain to mutants, let alone non-mutants. Getting up, she stretched lazily, and proceeded to walk down towards the shower. If she hadn't realized she'd forgotten her towel, she might not have heard her communicator go off for the first time in weeks.

Frowning, she went over to it and pushed the button. "This better be good, Jean." It wasn't Jean's voice she heard back.
