A warm breeze kicked up around Rachel, gently blowing her hair into her face. Reaching up, she pushed the wayward strands back, tucking them behind her ear before dropping her hand back down into her lap. The picnic tables weren't bad, the metal ones were too hot to sit at so Rachel had oped to sit at one of the older wooden ones.
She sat with her feet on the bench, bottom on the top of the table, with the sun beating down on her. Rachel wasn't concerned about sunburn, she rarely burned as it was, and honestly the sun felt nice. New York and Ohio had been cold when she'd left, so it was a nice change of pace. Rachel didn't think she'd be saying that in a few months from now when the temperatures spiked into the 100's but for now? It was nice.
Reaching up she began to toy with the charm on her necklace. God, she missed Finn. Even though they hadn't been officially dating at the time of his death, Rachel had just known that they would've been together forever had he not passed away. He was her person, the only man she'd ever truly loved, and he'd meant the world to her.
Tears welled up in her eyes, and hastily Rachel reached up to dab them away. Honestly she didn't think it was physically possible for her to cry anymore. She'd spent days in bed, crying until her eyes were dry and burning. She couldn't let herself get lost like that right now. She had to keep going on, to live a life that Finn would be proud of her for living. Being in this new place might not actually be such a bad thing, she was free to start over, to mourn without her friends asking her every five seconds if she was okay when it was clear that she was not okay.
Tipping her head back, Rachel looked up at the clear blue sky. "I'm okay. This is okay." Breathing in deeply, Rachel smiled softly as she dropped her chin back down toward her chest. Now, the only thing left to do was to figure out why they'd all been brought to Test City. Finding the answer wouldn't be easy, she wasn't naive enough to think that, but it was possible.
Of course, Rachel didn't really care about the why at this point and time. She was just kinda thankful for the break. Catching movement out of the corner of her eye, Rachel jerked her head up, offering the other person a smile. "Hello, I'm Rachel Berry." Normally she would've offered her hand in greeting, but instead she gave a small wave and large smile. She could make friends, or at the very least, be friendly to everyone she met.
