day two | rest week
So some of you woke up with an extra body in the room this week? Mind if I take a look?

Anyway, Rick and I stole a bunch of shit from the weird ass park last week, so if anyone wants a temporary back up body in case of death*, let me know. They're going to take a bit to set up and we need to find a place to store them when not in use.

Also, anyone that wants to see how this works in case Rick or I disappear is welcome to.

[CARVER]

I assume you're your vampire self again?

(*OOC: it's 2 AC for a back up host body unless you won one for free in the roll this week. These may become more important when we settle into a semi-permanent setting without resetting if you ever choose to risk death for your character.)

It is rarely a permanent bond. Normally it is for a temporary exchange of information or to hold a katra until it is returned to the family. Vulcans begin training their minds at a very young age. Using meditation and logic we are quite capable at compartmentalizing.

You can literally hold a soul, create a temporary psychic bond, but never refer to such abilities as magic or magical in nature.

I just find that fascinating.

Because it is not considered magic in my society. It may appear that way to other civilizations, but for us it is a natural development of scientific and spiritual study that has occurred over thousands of years.

Nevertheless, yes. It is fascinating. As all scientific endeavors are.

Is scientific inquiry part of your culture's spirituality?

And if these questions aren't okay, let me know. I'm curious but I don't actually want to be rude.

I do not consider inquisitive queries to be rude. And as a Vulcan you are incapable of hurting my feelings with your questions.

Our entire philosophy is based on logic. While we still maintain some customs correlating to ancient beliefs, logic is the mainstay of our entire culture and society. As such, scientific study has become a rational focus of our existence. While we still celebrate the arts, most Vulcans pursue careers in the sciences because it furthers our intellectual curiosity.

I was more concern about offense, possible alienation but... I literally can't hurt your feelings? Like you don't have them or ... how does that work, exactly?

Vulcans suppress their emotions. We choose not to experience them as emotions conflict with our philosophy of logic. One cannot achieve the prospect of being a truly logical being if one invites emotion into their life. We even have a ritual to permanently purge all emotion. I have not yet participated in that, but it has been something I’ve considered in the past. So, for the most part, we have the capacity to feel strong emotions but we choose not to.
