Once all is said and done, it’s time for the grand finale. Nothing is more beautiful than the ball and the town goes all out on it every year. This year’s theme is the Mystery and Magic of the Enchanted Beasts of the Forbidden Forest.

The ball itself will be decorated to look like an enchanted forest and it is encouraged to theme your mask and dress (or dress robes) like a magical creature. Be creative, but remember this is a black tie event hosted by the most old-fashioned of pureblood witches and wizards.

The ball begins at 9pm.

"Masquerade! Grinning yellows, spinning reds. Masquerade! Take your fill - Let the spectacle astound you!"

Being in the moonlight was perfect for Santana. Wearing her 'blinged-out' butterfly mask and monarch butterfly dress, Santana seemed to glow. The moonlight gleamed on the jewels, illuminating her face, especially her eyes. As she walked down the garden, she noticed a beautiful multicolored rose. She tried to pick it, but pricked her finger and pulled it back, frowning as she noticed blood.

"Stupid flower," she grumbled, glaring at it.

Jesse hated balls. He hated masked balls even more. He was planning on wearing normal dress robes and no mask to the event but his mother and his sister had ganged up on him. Santana got mentioned as well and he had no choice but to comply. His outfit was his sister's doing. Noelle had taken great pleasure in dressing him up. His suit and Phantom masquerade mask were all her ideas.

All the preening and fussing both his sister and his mother had done made him late. He was sure Santana wouldn't be pleased at all, even if he did, in his most humble opinion, looked great.

He stepped into the garden, having been informed that his date was there. Spotting Santana further up the path, he walked briskly to her. "Hey."

	Santana looked up. She was about to complain about his tardiness, but she noticed his suit and his mask. She sucked on her finger, grinning as she looked at him up and down. "I'm just waiting till the time is right for the big show," she said with a smirk. "I can't have it without you and Tori watching too. What kind of friend would I be if I did it and neither of you saw?"

Looking at her finger again, she then glared at the multicolored rose she was eyeing before. "I also really wanted a rose for my dress or my hair. Stupid thing pricked me."

"Of course, the big show," he replied with a knowing grin. "Wouldn't want to miss that one. You're a very good friend for making sure we both saw."

Jesse followed her gaze from her finger to the rose. "You know there's a reason why roses have thorns right?" He reached out for the flower and, minding the rose, plucked it from the bush. "Beautiful, isn't it? It would compliment you very well." He handed it over to her with a flourish. "Beautiful flower for a beautiful lady."

"Thank you, I know. Oh, I can't wait. After talking to the brat at Lonnie's party, I can't wait to have an 'accident.'" She was still bitter over her words with the Ravenclaw. She knew then and there that she deserved it.

Surprised, she smiled as she took the flower and put it behind her ear, along with a few strands of hair. She beamed as she leaned to him and kissed his cheek. Letting her guard down for a bit, she softly said, "Thanks. You didn't have to but... I mean it, thank you." Her guard was instantly put back up as she looped her arm with his. "Of course you would do it though, because I should look the best. I didn't win that stupid contest because I'm not some greasy cunt, but I can at least show everyone else here a real winner."

"I wish I'd known sooner. Then it'll be more than just that 'accident'," Jesse griped. It bothered him that he had to learn it from Santana, that Tori never told him about it.

He smiled softly at her. Jesse knew that this was a tender moment. Santana rarely, if ever, let her guard down. This was special. And fleeting. His smile turned to a smirk as Santana turned prickly again. "You were robbed." Her and Tori both. "Well, you have me on your arm. Of course, you look the best. You are the real winner."

"Why? You got a better idea than my dissolving dress potion? I'd use magic on her but that stupid rule won't let us." Though she has glad she came up with the idea. She liked taking most of the credit. She'd give a little for Jesse, since he did help with the potion, but it was all her and Snix's ideas.

She smirked at his words, finding herself amused. "You make yourself sound like an accessory. You're right though. I am a real winner." She brought her hand down to his and intertwined their fingers.

“Oh, you know what I mean,” he groused. He was smiling though. Gently, he squeezed her hand. “That's the spirit. Ready to walk out there and shove it in their faces now?”

"You know someone's gonna get a picture of it. Just wait, I bet even that little weasel Jacob will get it and let everyone see it." If someone did get pictures, Santana would pay a lot for them. She'd pay even more for a video. It'd be one of her proudest moments yet.

Pressing a quick kiss to his cheek, Santana thanked in and walked through. This was it. She grinned as she scanned for place for Bella, spotted her, then grabbed Jesse's hand and dragged him with her.

"The little weasel better not let us down then." He had seen Jacob fleetingly when he first entered the ballroom. Maybe he should tip the guy off. That would ensure photographic evidence.

Jesse just smiled when she gave him a kiss. He found it sweet and thoughtful. He watched, amused, as Santana looked around, no doubt looking for Bella. He chuckled to himself as he let her drag him off.
