Who: Warren OT Tabby, JP, Dante, and some NPC kids
What: Testing some new security features.
When: Monday morning, 10 am
Where: First floor, foyer
Rating: We'll start at PG. Could change.

It had been decided on Friday around four in the afternoon, Warren would meet several people downstairs to begin some tests, real tests, on the security systems he was working on upgrading. And just as he'd been getting ready to finish out a fifth scan of the new codes, he came across a glitch. It was something so small but a thing that had to be fixed before anything could proceed. So he'd contacted everyone who'd volunteered to help, and went back to work. Now it was Monday morning, and he was ready.

Down to the foyer he went with his laptop in hand and a determined look on his face. He wore jeans and a t-shirt, deciding casual was the best way to go today. As he walked down the hallway, two students flanking him, he looked like some kind of vigilante angel out on the prowl. One, a boy by the name of Anson, carried a few bottles of water and the other, a girl who called herself Conduit, a device that resembled the speed clocker guns that cops used. When they reached the foyer the students placed their items where Warren instructed, while Warren pulled over a small side table and set his computer on top of it.

"All right," he said after a minute of typing and studying the screen. "Now we just wait for the others to show up."

Jean-Paul returned Dante's greeting, giving a wave of his own before he made himself comfortable. Even his expression was laid-back with just a subtle grin that was reserved for Warren. Oh, yes, he remembered that party and how it changed his view of Warren a little, giving him so hope in that area. Or maybe it'd just created a challenge that he was more than willing to take. As Tabby appeared, Jean-Paul gave her a little wink and sat up as the introductions went around.

Leaning forward with his elbows propping him up against his knees, his face scrunched up in concentration. The explanation wasn't the part Jean-Paul was here for, especially since most of it was gibberish. He wasn't a computer - or really much of a tech - savvy person. As the monitor flashed with rows of numbers, he gave Warren a confused look that said something along the lines of, Who the hell could understand that? At least it was useful to him and finally the conversation got around to something he could actually help with.

He stood up but remained a little bit toward the back, his eyes following Warren's to Dante as he realized he didn't know what his powers were either. Thus, he was quite excited to see what the new mutant could do.

Dante listened intently and nodded. It made enough sense for him to follow along anyways. The whole setup looked a little complicated, and he was sort of scared to get near it just in case it shorted out or something. At least is was nice outside, as usual, Dante was barefooted, as he enjoyed the feel of grass on the bottom of his feet.

To be honest, he didn't really know why he was here, and now that JP was here, the one person in the mansion that he would love to be asked out by, if he screwed up or looked stupid in any way, he could throw that wish in the trash, along with half of the food that his students prepared in class. He allowed his mind to wander, until he heard his name.

"Oh." He replied. "Well I.." He stammered for a moment. It was ok to talk about it here, and this would be the first time he really talked about his powers. "I know that I can fly, and I have enhanced strength and strength. Oh, and I can also become invulnerable when I need to be." The last part he said very quietly. His face was visibly red from embarrassment. Was it so natural to talk about powers so candidly?

Tabby had made a face as Warren stopped being her arm rest, but quickly made up for it by standing next to Anson and listened as Warren spoke-she did well with computers, always had so she managed to keep up for the most part.

However, when Dante spoke of his powers-as though he was embarrassed by them she grinned and gave the angelic man a thumbs up. "Niiiice!" That boy really needed to get out of his little shell.
If the adorable as hell little looks Dante kept throwing J.P. were anything to go by, then she might just be able to give him reason to branch out; but that was for another day. Right now she had a chance to fight and work her powers.

"We're going to go through the night of the attack step by...You're giving me that look, JP, like I'm the wrong bag of chips from a vending machine." He couldn't help his ow smirk at the other man, followed by a slight shake of his head. If that wasn't the perfect set up for a comment with double meaning, he didn't know what was. Whether or not Jean-Paul would play off of that remained to be seen. He was hard to read at times, sometimes not caring about who was around and other times remaining insanely private. "Like I was saying, step by step." He turned his gaze to Tabby with a touch of concern. "Out of all of us, you were the only one here that night. So if any of this gets to be too much for you, say the word and we'll be done." As much as Warren could be the serious business-man or the flirtatious playboy, there was a wildly protective streak in him when it came to the mansion resident that were even slightly younger than him. Tabby certainly was not the exception since he'd known her for quite some time now.

"Invulnerability..." Warren mumbled thoughtfully. His face lit with a grin and he clapped Dante on the shoulder. "You'll be perfect for the second test, then." And that was pretty much all the information any of them were going to get right now.

Warren looked at Anson and gave him a nod. "Try and shut it down." The teenager walked over to the security box on the wall by the front door and placed his hand over it, gentle, as though not to break something delicate. His head went down and his eyes closed. After seconds the lights flickered but never went out. Two seconds later and Anson was looking up, a grin breaking his serious demeanor. "That's funny." He turned to the others and said, "I told it several different ways to shut down or go into hibernation. I kept getting no reply until the last time. The computer actually sad. 'Who is General Failure and why are you hacking into my system?' Then I was stonewalled." He slapped Warren a high five. "Good stuff, man."

"Thank you." With a not so humble smile on his face, Warren turned to the others. "Now if you would be so kind as to follow me outside." He picked up the odd gun-shaped device Conduit had deposited by the wall and led the small group out into the sunny spring morning. "All of you, outside the gate. Once it closes behind you..." He looked at Dante. "I want you to try and get in first, then someone else try and push the gate open after Dante does. Hopefully I got the settings right."

Jean-Paul's expression broke at Warren's words, turning into something of a humorous grin. Imagining that scenario literally, he could picture himself using the same look, and that was just funny to him. But looking at it differently meant something else entirely. "You're just my brand of chips," he joked with that natural air of confidence he always wore. The only time that broke was around disagreeable people, which was actually quite a lot.

He followed the conversation, glancing at Tabitha and then Dante as he explained his powers. Just call us fly boys, he thought since they he and Warren could also fly, though Warren's ability was more obvious than his own. However, hearing that invulnerability would be perfect for a test made that test sound rather dangerous and Jean-Paul perked an eyebrow. Ah well, they didn't need him for it.

At least the security system seemed better, too. Jean-Paul wasn't made for all of that, but he still watched with a mild curiosity as Anson tried shutting it down. It seemed like Warren had done a good job so far and Jean-Paul gave him a pleased look as a silent congratulations of sorts. He followed the rest outside and, per the instructions, he walked outside of the gate and waited with his arms crossed to see just what would happen once Dante tried getting in.

Dante watched as the kid seemed to almost spaz out and shut down. What was he doing? It then became rather apparent that he was trying to mess with the power grid or something like that. The kid was unsuccessful, but was very happy about it. Dante actually hadn't been here for the attack on the mansion, but he had seen the news about it. Dante eyed the gun warily, as he stepped outside of the gate and watched it close behind them.

Dante just nodded nervously as he walked up to the gate. His eyes began to emit a faint golden glow, as did his hands. Dante carefully placed his hands on the gate and began to push. Was he supposed to try to destroy the gate or punch through it perhaps? He wondered curiously. He had tapped into his 'angelic form', and although there wasn't a physical change in his muscle mass, he was much stronger, and his hands would be immune to any form of damage that the gate might have emitted.

Tabitha looked around casually, noting all the places that could meet the end of her bombs, as she hung back and waited for Dante.

She'd always been more 'blow em up, punch, and kick first' kind of fighter so tactics and planning sent her into a daze.
She'd gotten slightly better about it over the years, but seeing how she, as warren pointed out, was here during the attack she was a little less inclined to be studious. She wanted to protect the kids here. The ones who had no place to go and didn't need to be looking over their shoulders in the one place they were supposed to be safe.

As soon as the others were walking toward the gate, Warren gave a great flap of his wings and took to the sky. There was no feeling close to flying, feeling the wind flow through the feathers of his wings and hold his body like a protective embrace. He rose until he was high enough to be able to see the entirety of the front lawn as well as the gate, hoping the group would be able to hear him when he called down instructions. If not, he had a back up plan of walkies stashed outside. Holding the radar gun, Warren did a quick scan of the grounds and nodded his satisfaction at what appeared on his screen. He hovered in the air with rhythmic beats of his wings, bobbing up and down ever so slightly like a lure on the surface of a lake.

Looking down at the five outside the main gate, Warren's gaze went first to Jean-Paul, then to Dante as the younger man began a slow and obvious transformation. As he wrapped his hands around the thick iron bars, Warren turned the radar gun in their direction and watched with great concentration. After a minute, he looked up and called, "Okay. Now someone else try it. Remember, this is for science." Or something else noble like improving the level of safety at the mansion.

Whoever was brave enough to step forward and touch the gates would have quite the shock, literally. Unless it was the female student. He looked up quickly and called, "Anyone but Conduit." That bit still needed some tweaking. But anyone else who touched the gate would find themselves feeling quickly drained of energy and slightly disoriented. At least that was the goal.
