They talk about once a month, usually on skype, just to check in. Tim knows Diana calls because Julian would have and even though they don’t talk about him often, he’s still there, between them when they catch up.

Tim lets Diana fill him in on all her skating news and other things going on in her life, although she rarely mentions any men. He’s not even that interested but he likes to hear her speaking and monitors her tone carefully for hints of contentment or grief.

Each time he dares himself not to ask after Nina. He usually does.

Awww, Tim, go on ask after Nina already! And I love how Julian is still present in both of their lives and how the bond between them still holds. This is almost too close to real life, and I love your piece intensely for it.
