What an excellent self-contained little scene. There's so much emotion in there, all of it evoked through small actions and expressions, and the lightest hand with dialogue I've seen in a while. Such a lovely way of showing how the shortest, most transient of emotions not only defines an entire relationship, but also full-stops how hopeless it is. And the scene is probably repeated over and over on a regular basis - so sad. So much in this for so few words - well done, Mystery Author.
