Who: Digger & Open (Multiples Welcome)
What: Working
When: July 2nd, 2074
Where: Around New Dublin
Rating: TBD (possibly high, it's Digger)
Status: Open / Incomplete

Peace was good for business. But so was war. There was no denying that simple fact. Sure plenty of folks came out of such strife either broken, bloody or dead. Yet the dirty cop always seemed to turn a profit, no matter how bad things got. It paid to be the one burying the bodies. Doubly so when the man was a Neutral party who took contracts from all the major gangs. Sure it was a dangerous position to be in; working closely with so many deadly people but not having any of them truly on his side. Sure it would have been safer to pick a side and stick with it. Hell half the cops on the force were in the pocket of a gang. However Conners kept himself above such concerns...hiring out his services to all the major players, while making it known that he belonged to none.

Death, guns, drugs, and tech. The corrupt cop had worked hard to get a finger in every possible pie in New Dublin. The rules were simple, and widely known. Pay on time, and he'd get the job done. If someone needed killing, a corpse and evidence needed to disappear, or a shipment needed to make it somewhere safely...he was your man. No questions asked, no strings attached. There was no line Digger wouldn't cross, with a single glaring exception. No harm was to come to children. Beyond that the cop was up for anything, provided that it paid.

After getting off the clock from the day job he headed out into the city. A list of jobs already waiting to be handled, bodies that needed to be vanished, and even a contract kill request was on his to do list as well. The city never slept, nor did it's gravedigger. So with a mocha caf-stick dangling from his lip the cop was on the move, eager to see just what the night held in store for him.

It was late, but that was normal for Sabrina. Especially when she was working. The things that she did wasn't exactly a day job. When she had wrapped up that night, she showered and walked outside of the house. She looked around a shiver going up her spine. This was the one part of the job that she didn't like. It wasn't that she couldn't defend herself, but that didn't mean she was fully comfortable being out in the open at night.

She found a spot where she was hidden just enough and pulled out her AR glasses. After they activated, she spoke her commands. "Text Digger," then after the text screen came up, "Yo, by any chance are you anywhere near the Green? Don't feel like walking back this late." She closed the text and sat down, looking for something to pass the time until he responded.

The sound metal grinding against metal rang out across the abandoned warehouse as the cop got to work dismembering the cybernetic limbs from the corpse laid out before him. With the chemical bath already to go, all that remained was pulling out the tech and then Dig would be ready to roll. Disposing of corpses was a lucrative gig, and selling off the extra parts to various buyers made it doubly so. Plus the corrupt officer was a big believer in the whole 'waste not, want not' sentiment too.

It was the sudden chirp in his ear piece that pulled his focus away from the task at hand, and for a moment Riley paused to glance down to the message displayed on his wrist device. Earnestly it took a moment to recognize the sender of the text, but he had seen the girl around at the club. One of Nori's little friends, and a skilled dancer, if memory served correctly. The request for a ride caught the cop off guard, mostly since he wasn't a taxi service for anyone. However it wasn't hard to imagine the he might have offered her his help during one of his drug trips.

So after glancing to the body on the floor, and quickly estimating how much time it would take to finish up there, the killer for hire finally sent a text message back at last.

Free in 18 minutes. Send current location.

She wasn't sure if she was actually going to get a response. It was a reach, and she was attempting to be casual. She had been born in that area of the city, but ever since she had been offered to Father, she didn't exactly want to look back. Her family was still there, and as much as she wanted to make sure that her younger siblings were OK, there were other things about home that she wanted to avoid.

A small smile came across her face when she saw his response. She pulled up the screen to send him the location when she looked up to see her previous owner and gasped. "Shit. Hold on." She had been speaking to her device, but as she quickly hid from the man, the message sent to Digger. Once she was secure a few minutes later, she sent him her location, hoping to keep hidden as long as the man she wanted to avoid was in the vicinity.

The fact that Sabrina was out near the Sixer's zone was a little surprising. Especially since almost all the gangs had been sticking to their own turf ever since the treaty had been broken. However the cop wasn't a part of any gang at all; having chosen to remain a neutral figure, and an objective third party that worked with all sides. Oh it was pure profits that had first sent him down that path, yet over the years Digger had come to fully believe that he had made the right call in choosing to side with himself alone.

Sure he lacked the physical protection of a gang, yet between his ties to the police force, and his contract work for the largest criminal organizations within New Dublin too...well his personal safety was rarely an issue. Even now, after melting the remnants of a dead man into a corrosive bath all for credits, the police officer loaded up the salvaged cybernetic parts and gear he had looted from the dead. All that blood covered equipment just tossed into the trunk of his police cruiser. Even during the height of the last war he traveled between the zones without the slightest concern. So after hopping into his ride, and getting her reply, Conners was already on the move. Light flashing, but the siren silent, as his vehicle practically flew down the streets at a break neck pace.

When he pulled up next to the sidewalk at the GPS coordinates Sabrina had sent him, the officer got out of the car and paused to stretch for a second. At last, after yawning and wiping a bit of caked blood from his cheek, Dig cast a look around for the young woman before calling out as well...not apparently concerned at all with who might hear him.

"I don't have all night, pet."

Sabrina hated to be outside the black, let along anywhere close to one of the other zones. Still, one thing that time didn't change was rich, old white men. They all had their tastes, and a specific order had been put in for Sabrina that night. Most nights, she worked at the warehouse, but more and more, she found herself in VIP rooms and working one-on-one with private clients.

Just as she saw the pimp from the past leave the area, the police cruise rolled up with Digger walking out of it. She let out a sigh of relief, knowing that there was no chance that she would be dealing with any sort of conflict. "Hey..." She started as she walked up to the officer. "Sorry about the random text. I don't exactly trust this area."

For the most part Riley Conners as impossible to get a read on; that usually emotionless expression he wore, and his lack of interest in most things beyond money, made him a challenge when it came to assessing his mood. Sure there were moments when his rage got the best of him, and the corrupt cop did seem to enjoy torturing and slowly killing folks who hurt children too. Yet beyond those times he seemed to either be cold and distant, or mildly annoyed. The latter being his apparent present state as he waited for Sabrina.

Even as she offered up a quick apology, and started talking about not trusting the area, the killer for hire just shrugged and gestured for the young woman to get into the car. Oh he set his own schedule, especially while working his night job, but standing around idly just wasn't something he wanted to do. However before the cop could say as much some stranger seemed to have spotted the girl, and loudly started shouting at her as her former pimp started to move towards the cruiser. Cursing and swearing all the while. With an annoyed sigh Digger's sidearm was suddenly pulled from his hip holster, but instead of offering up a warning at all the cop simply fired off a quick round. Not killing the pimp, but instead putting a slug right into the man's knee and sending the now screaming man to the pavement.

While her former pimp screamed and flayed in pain on the sidewalk Digs just glanced back to Sabrina before chiming in at last. "Can we go now? I've got a list of things that need doing, and still want to grab a quick bite to eat too." The fact that he had just shot a stranger, and left the guy crippled and crying on the ground, didn't seem to phase the cop at all. If anything he was earnestly bored, and had no interest in sticking around this area any longer.

As soon as the pimp began to approach them, Sabrina opened the door to the cruiser to get in, not wanting to deal with him in any way. She had a feeling that despite the fact that her step-mother's debt had paid off, he had regretted giving Sabrina up to Father. She made him good money, and she was making even more as one of Father's Children.

She didn't even flinch as she watched the cop shoot the pimp, even hiding a smirk, feeling like the pervert got what he deserved. "Definitely," she gave him a solemn nod. Emotion wasn't one of Sabrina's strong suits, either. For more reasons than even she knew, she had gone completely numb over the years. Whether she had been deeply repressing things or not, she wasn't exactly sure.

She got into the car and didn't even bother looking Digger in the eye as she closed the door and waited for him to get in before speaking in a blunt monotone, "so are we going to discuss form of payment?"

Shooting a stranger in the middle of a street should have been cause for a bit of alarm, yet earnestly Riley was completely calm about the whole thing. Sure he didn't exactly make a habit of attacking random people, but all it had taken was a quick glance to assess that the pimp wasn't of any importance. Even if the other man tried to report it to the police, which was highly unlikely to begin with, it would be his word against a decorated and respected public servant like Officer Conners.

Oh Digger was as corrupt as they came, yet he paid well to keep his public image pristine, and had worked hard to keep himself protected both in the public eye and in the underworld too. Hell if the pimp tried putting a hit on Digger for that matter, well there wasn't anyone crazy enough to accept the contract to begin with. After all Digger had gotten his street name by being the one all the major criminal organizations turned to when the someone need to be killed or buried. So without a seeming care in the world he shot a man right there. Not because Conners felt threatened, but merely because he had no desire to deal with any interruptions for his plans that evening.

When Sabrina got in the car Dig got in as well. Leaving her former pimp laying there on the sidewalk, holding his bloody leg and screaming for help. After shutting the door to the cruiser, and buckling up, Conners finally turned his gaze back to her when she posed the question of payment. Honestly, the question itself caught the cop off guard. After all he was doing this as a favor to her, and for Nori, so the cop hadn't entertained the notion of requesting any payment at all. Especially since he liked being owed favors, and had quite the collection of chips he could call in from various people as well. Still instead of dismissing her inquiry altogether the man started the car and spoke up at last.

"What did you have in mind?"

Sabrina shrugged, holding up her left hand, palm up and counted off the possible methods of payment, starting with her pinky. "Well, there's always money, but there are also the options of drugs, information, sexual favors, or the promise to do something for you down the road." She definitely showed the calm demeanor of someone much more than simply nineteen years old.

Prior to this night, she had only met Officer Conners briefly. She had heard a lot about him, but she hadn't experienced any of it for herself yet. After giving the options a moment, she spoke up again. "Thanks for that, by the way. Asshole just misses the money I made for him," she stated bluntly. She didn't bother saying that the pimp wasn't actually affiliated with any of the gangs, figuring that Digger already knew that, and stayed quiet. She wasn't exactly overly chatty. Not even before her time as a prostitute.

Just witnessing that fact that the girl was a pragmatic one; as evidenced by the fact that Sabrina was able to offer up a quick list of options with ease, had the cop relaxing a little more. Truth be told, the man was terrible when it came to interacting with others on any real social level. You didn't spend as many years as he had killing and making bodies/evidence disappear without growing a bit detached. Plus after Izzy had died during that V-Day massacre, Dig's had become even more withdrawn...and almost ice cold all the time. Nori alone was the only one these days to see even a hint of a genuine smile on his lips.

Here and now, it was a relief not having to fake any sort of emotions. And after considering her offered options Riley finally nodded his head before chiming in again. "I've got no need of credits or drugs from you. Already earned more in a few hours then you've likely seen in a few months. Plus I get my drugs from CoD already, special ordered." Conners wasn't a junkie by any means. The Clean Slate detoxer he used after every night of partying made sure of that. Earnestly there was a reason Digs was allowed access to the CoD's VIP floor too despite the fact that he wasn't affiliated to the gang. On the weekends, when he was off the clock, the cop would spend a few thousand credits easily. Buying up company, refreshments, and top shelf narcotics too. Partying hard with a custom pharmaceutical that would drop an elephant, only to use the detoxing before sunrise so he'd be fresh as a daisy when work called again.

"Think I'll settle for a general favor being owed. Not that you aren't a tempting little thing for the sexual favors. If I didn't have shit to do tonight I'd make use of you to be sure." Her offer of thanks was met with a slight shrug of his broad shoulders, and it was clear enough that Conners really hadn't shot the man for her. If anything the pimp had just annoyed the cop and that had been all it took to get Digger to react. As the car roared to life, and began to drive, it was clear that they weren't headed towards the Black Zone at all. If anything they seemed to be heading closer towards the Red Zone.

Typically, Sabrina was able to quickly gauge those around her and act accordingly, but so far, she had just been herself around Conners, and it was a huge relief. Putting on a front was always exhausting, and she had already had enough that night. Johns could be a real bore at times.

She was definitely impressed, and slightly more relieved that she didn't have to get her hands on more drugs, when he talked up his obvious side work and how lucrative it was. She wasn't much for using drugs, herself. It just helped in her line of work. When he stated that he'd go for the general favor, she nodded. Also making a side note that if he needed any help that night, it wouldn't count toward the favor.

When she saw what direction he had been heading in, she raised an eyebrow, but she didn't argue. Officer Conners was a busy man, and she wasn't about to pout and make him go out of his way to take her back to the Black Zone. She was just grateful to be with someone that wasn't possibly going to hurt her. Not that she couldn't handle it. Her first kill from a little over a year ago was still fresh in her mind. Hell, she was actually almost positive that it was Officer Conners that had disposed of the body for her after she had walked into the warehouse, covered in blood with the murder weapon still in her hand. Not on her order, of course. She had caught the attention of one of the elite members that night. That was when her current journey began.

Mostly out of boredom, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her butterfly knife and began playing with it casually. Swinging it open and closed, all around her hand and forearm. She knew that if he didn't like it, he would make it know, and she would stop without question. Mostly, she was just passing time.

As far as the cop was concerned she was nothing more than cargo just then; something to be safely delivered from point A to point B, like most of the others things he tended to transport for the gangs. Sure when it came to his protection services the officer tended to deal with moving drugs, weapons, or tech between the Zones for the various criminal elements. Though he had been known to play the bodyguard too if the credits were good enough. Having done so for the gangs, politicians, and some of the wealthy upper crust as well. So all in all, having Sabrina along for the ride wasn't completely out of place for Digger at all.

Plus on the upside she didn't seem to be the inquisitive sort either; who'd bother him with questions he wouldn't answer either. People paid for his silence, and Riley's discretion was a guarantee when he accepted a contract. Whether it was a contract to take a life, run some guns, or to make sure the cops looked the other way during a bit of premeditated crime. So in silence they sat; her playing with the knife while the cruiser drove itself and Conners reviewed the list of goodies he had procured from his work so far this evening. Twice during the next hour or so things changed up a bit. First when the car came to park itself right out from of the Cybermen's bar, and when it pulled up in front of a garage that belonged to the SSR.

Each time the cop got out of the cruiser, leaving Sabrina there within, as he casually headed into each establishment. The first time dropping off a large duffel bag he had pulled from the trunk. The second time dropping of a few sets of car keys too. His business never lasted long, and while the cop was away not a soul bothered the girl or the police cruiser at all. If anything a handful of well armed gang members seemed to keep an eye on Digger's ride, ensuring that no one dared to fuck with it at all. When he wrapped up the second stop, and left the SSR garage at last with a new small credstick in his possession, Conners hopped back into the ride and finally let out a soft sigh.

"I'm hungry. You game for Thai? There's a decent joint close to the CoD club that serves a passable panang curry. You can roll with me, or I can drop you off at home since we'll be in the Black. Your call."

Each time the car stopped, Sabrina didn't even look up. She figured if she didn't know where he was, the less chance she'd have in getting nervous knowing that she was in a different zone. If it wasn't for the war, she wouldn't feel that way, but it didn't hurt to be on guard.

She kept herself amused on all of his stops, and was actually caught off-guard when he finally spoke to her again. She put her knife away and nodded without a second thought. "I could definitely eat," she stated simply. There was more that could be said, but true to her character, she left it at that.

While there was no denying that Conners was usually not the most amicable of people, the cop could be civil and even downright decent company as well under the right set of circumstances. Here and now those being a large serving of beef panang, served over steamy white rice, and with a double order of the chicken satay party sticks for the appetizer too. Toss in a tall pint of cold beer and Dig was more then content to sit there quietly at the table; sharing a comfortable silence with Sabrina, as he took a few sips from his ale. It was only after their order had been taken, and the waiter departed once the drinks were dropped off, that the cop finally spoke up.

"Nori and I came here right after this place setup shop in the neighborhood a year or so ago. The food isn't bad, and they never skimp on the seasonings either." Sure the service was usually very quick for the cop, but it likely had less to do with the badge and more to do with the fact that he threatened to kill the owner a long while back. Not because the owner had done anything wrong, but because Riley and Nori had been savoring a bit of alone time...right there on the table in front of everyone. So when the owner came to break things up, well all it took was a look and a quick wave of Conners' gun to get the older man to rapidly decide it was better to let the cop and CoD member do as they pleased.

"I heard a little rumor that even Father is a fan of the pan-fried scallops too."

Sabrina had ordered a small fried rice dish for herself and sat with Officer in mostly silence. She looked up when he mentioned Father and nodded, "yeah, I heard about that. This place is actually quite popular for the Children, as well. I haven't really been here, though. Just had the takeout." It was the most that she had said the entire night, and it was probably going to stay that way.

She took a sip of her own drink as they waited for their food and looked around. She was still getting used to being somewhat important, being an actual CoD member. In their time waiting, she could have explained why the pimp had been trying to get her attention, but she figured that he didn't care to listen to her sob story that lead her to where she was today.
