Who: Open to all
When: October 31, 2013 (forward dated)
Where: Wayne Manor, Gotham, NJ
What: Annual Halloween Masquerade supporting the Wayne Foundation
It was a Wayne Masquerade unlike any Gotham had ever seen - instead of filling the brilliantly lit ballroom with beautiful people in colorful costumes, the party had been moved out of the house and onto the expansive property surrounding the house. The Manor sat on 500 acres of land, nearly sixty of them trained, sculpted, or repurposed into the gardens, reflecting ponds, trails, boathouses, small cottages, hedges, swimming pools, tennis courts, and other features that made the Wayne Gardens such a sought after feature by specialist magazines. Another portion of the property was given over to a park featuring groves of several varieties that meandered along what appeared to be prescribed paths.
Even with all the natural, if sometimes manicured, splendor of the place, room had been found for an array of spectacles for all of Mr. Wayne's guests tonight. Besides the orange and black colored lights that sparkled all around, the colorful lanterns and spooky masks, booths had been erected inviting guests to take a closer look. Some suggested they try their luck in a game of chance while others provided food or drink. There were magicians, fortune tellers, clowns, and other buskers wandering around to perform when an audience presented itself, and a stage had been set up near the tennis courts where a band played.
No inch of the property had been spared transformation; the tennis courts had been transformed into a dance floor; sheaves of dried corn had been brought in and used in the construction of a maze among the groves. What had once been the simple cottage of the stable master was transformed into a Hall of Mirrors for the evening. Coin pitch; kissing booth; dunk tank; ring toss; a haunted grove walk; no one could argue that it was every inch a carnival. There were even prizes in the form of little superhero plushies at each of the games.
But the most amazing sight was the rides. Lights blinking brightly in the night sky, the ferris wheel soared high in the air above the rest, even if it was still dwarfed in perspective by the Manor beside it. The smaller rides beneath spun and flew through the air at dizzying speeds, drawing adults and children alike with an enthusiasm that was not differentiated by age or social status.
The entire property was gated, of course, and guards had been posted everywhere - not just for security, but for safety. He had told no one it would be a carnival, and for Bruce, seeing the surprise and the growing excitement in peoples eyes as some of them immediately appreciated the idea, and as others slowly came to do so in spite of themselves, made having to be social a little bit worth the effort.
(OOC: Fly, my pretties! Do what you want - if you have questions, feel free to ask, but I tried to give you enough. If you want to add something carnival themed in there, it shouldn't be a problem, but if you aren't sure, ask.)
