Being twenty minutes late wasn't too bad. The Gotham traffic was notoriously terrible after all and Selina had spent the last ten minutes trying to offer solutions to her driver, navigating road works and queues of cars. Thankfully he seemed to know the city streets as well as she did, maybe even a little better at this level. The extra twenty minutes didn't bother her really, she wasn't particularly known for her time keeping and it didn't hurt to keep a man waiting after all. Selina glanced out of the blacked out window as the car turned a final corner, crawling to a halt outside of Carmine's. The restaurant was tucked away down a side street. It was still in the better part of town, but hidden enough so that it still managed to feel exclusive for those that knew it. She eyed it up cautiously, a warm glow emanating from the windows, hidden though a mesh she could make out the silhouettes of people chatting, drinking. She hadn't even noticed the driver leave the car, moving around to open her door, the chill spring air drifting in and snapping her out of her trance.
“Thank you.” Selina looked up, smiling at him warmly as he extended a hand. She took it carefully, stepping out of the car on to the pavement, pulling up the collar of her black trench coat around her neck. She'd been wearing her hair down a lot lately, whilst at home at least, and found the cool air on her exposed skin strange. Selina's hair was up, arranged messily, slightly curled and piled in a rather slap dash fashion, held in place with a couple of silver pins tipped with mother of pearl.
The driver gave her a polite nod, heading back to the black town car. He knew her routine, she'd call if she needed him again. It was rare that she bothered.
Turning towards the restaurant, Selina headed for the entrance, a slight sway in her hips, her black clutch clasped in her hand as she pressed open the door letting the warmer air sweep over her. She was trying not to let the feeling of dread that sat in her gut fill her up and make her turn around. The gala had been a mistake, a lapse of judgement on her behalf. She spent the cab ride home from the manor internally cursing herself for even showing up. Bruce had been pleasant as always, but it'd all seemed far too intimate. Selina sighed, she'd let the dance they'd shared creep in to her thoughts far to often over the last few days. This was better though, this was more public.
Walking towards the host she began to unbutton her coat, shrugging it off her shoulders and handing it to the elderly gentleman in the cloak room. The dress that she wore underneath clung to all of her curves. A violet silk creation, with a Tiffany pin on her shoulder. The black shoes she wore only served to make her legs look never ending. This was her armour. This was her shield, her protection. Selina smiled warmly at the girl standing waiting to great her.
“I'm here to meet Mr Wayne.” she spoke clearly, the sly smile never leaving her dark red lips.
The girl gestured towards the back of the restaurant, a quieter area away from the bar and the main seating area - “Mr Wayne is waiting for you in the Saloon. Can I bring you a drink over?” she spoke quietly and quickly, she could only assume she was trying to protect Bruce's privacy. Selina nodded in thanks, thinking for a second. “Dirty Martini, two olives” she replied nodding in thanks, walking around the girl in the direction she'd indicated.
So maybe this wasn't going to be as public as she'd have liked, but never the less it was a little more relaxed, after all this wasn't his home, his study, his parents record collection. This was neutral ground. They were equal. Selina took a deep breath, moving through the bar area, what felt like a thousand eyes sweeping over her as she walked – she stayed focused on the middle distance filled with a nervousness she hadn't felt in a long time.
