Who: Lex Luthor (open to reactions)
When: November 7th, 2012
Where: Metropolis, USA
What: National Election Results
Rating: PG
"The numbers have been tallied and the results are in! For those of you just joining us, tonight marks the end of another election for the United States. And our next president elect is a man who's name is synonymous with progress far before his political career. Lex Luthor, has been declare the victor and will be our forty-fifth President!"
"It's truly a momentous occasion, as it marks the first time in national history that a president has been elected that ran neither on the Democratic or Republican party. Yes, Lex Luthor took the nation by surprise by not taking either side, but ran as an Independent. And now the celebration for "Luthor 2012" is in downtown Metropolis." The camera cuts to a massive group of people outside the L shaped building, dancing, waving signs, yelling, some crying, all celebrating. "The air here is electric, and I don't know the last time I've seen a happier group of people. Mr. Luthor chose to bring his electoral HQ back to his own hometown and Metropolites couldn't be happier!"
"Ah! We're getting word now that Lex Luthor will be joining us momentarily for his victory address, and -- Here he is folks! The man of the hour himself, the next President of the United States, Alexander Joseph Luthor!"
A calm and collected Luthor took center stage at the podium, the cheers and yells from the crowd of supporters drawing a small smile from him. He let the near pandemonium continue for another minute lifting a hand. The crowd hushed immediately, and the focus of the entire nation cleared his throat before beginning to speak.
"What has occurred tonight in this country is momentous. For too long, this country has been tied to a two party system that was on a doomed spiral downward. But it was the only system that worked, and those that tried to venture outside of it found themselves dwarfed by history, and cast to the side.
"But you did not vote for a party tonight, America. You did not vote for the old standby's that you may have voted for in years past. Tonight, you informed this country, and the world that "Good Enough" wasn't going to stand any longer. No, tonight ... you voted for actual progress." A cheer met him, and he allowed himself another small smile.
"Progress! The very thing that this country was founded upon. The very thing that so many before me have promised without result. And now ... here I stand. A man who's very sole focus is progress. But perhaps... I have kept my view too narrowly focused before I announced my candidacy. One man and his company can only do so much. But a President can do so much more."
"I stand before you tonight in the city that I helped build. Over two-thirds of this shining megalopolis were build by my company, and overseen by myself. More than two-thirds of this city work for my company and are comfortably housed, and fed by the paychecks from it. What kind of a man would I be if I did not want to bring that kind of comfort and progress to the rest of America?" More cheers, and his smile actually seemed genuine.
"The year ahead of us will see many changes. Those changes are necessary for such progress, along with our safety. No longer can we idly sit back and allow ourselves to have others do the work we ourselves are capable of. No longer can we assume that someone else will fix things, and keep us safe. No. That is a task we are capable of, America. I know it. And I know the path to seeing us accomplish it."
"For now, I assure you that your lives will be looked out for. Progress will be made in healthcare, education, protection, and even our own government. While others before me have made such promises and failed," he chuckled softly, "America and the world knows of my iron resolve. I will not be pushed around, America. And neither will this country."
"But I won't be alone, I know. Every single one of you will stand with me as we look towards the future, knowing that what it brings cannot stop us. Knowing that our progress cannot be swayed. And knowing that the citizens here are done with "Good Enough." "
"Goodnight, and God Bless America."
Lex Luthor strode from the stage to momentous applause and cheers as nearby loudspeakers blared out the national anthem and a stream of balloons and confetti in red, white, and blue.
